  1. Moved to South Lake Tahoe in July, but I just scored the ever-living crap out of the swell from Hurricane Hilary in Malibu on my boogie board. Figured I'd share it with you all. Over 6 inches of rain in 10 hours, 50mph+ wind blowing offshore, and consistent swell running down one of California's most famous point breaks. Known for its crowd, by 6pm there was nobody in the water due to the storm, and me and one other guy traded perfect waves until nightfall. It was a total once in a lifetime experience. Swell was 5-6ft @ 12-16seconds from the SE at 165-155 degrees, about as steep of an east swell angle from Baja as you can get in SoCal, which made this normally mushy point break hollow and fast.
  2. Looking east from KOP, just some thunder, lightning and rain here so far.
  3. Moved from Bryn Mawr to Collingswood, NJ today, was brutal using a pickup and not a box truck with the rain. Crossing fingers, but likely South Lake Tahoe next. Should know forsure later this week!
  4. Been steady cool rain most of the evening here on the main line. These 40 degree nights have been great for driving!
  5. I'd argue increasing average ocean temps, and our area's geographic relation to the ocean, could play a role in the increase of local tornadogenisis. Warmer ocean = warmer air flow off the ocean during common SE ridging = stronger interaction with approaching cold fronts = more extreme lift and chance for vorticity to develop along the front. Does this sound right?
  6. Christmas day in Deleware, really beautiful afternoon to be outside.
  7. Do you think tomorrow morning is going to have thick & streaming lake effect clouds from the NW flow? Or clearer skies? Was thinking it could be a decent sunrise, might shoot to the shore to take some pics, with the well-groomed swell and strong offshore winds it should look nice.
  8. Really stoked on this. Surfline featured, and quoted me about, a picture I took on Saturday (12/10) at the Ocean City Music Pier. Really happy with how the shot came out. I saw the potential for a good pic, but it came out so much better than expected. Everything was up to chance, from the kid who walked onto the end of the pier at the perfect moment, to the sole surfer who was out braving the cold. There's even a New Jersey license plate visible as a little Easter egg. It was my first time visiting OCNJ! Link to article: https://www.surfline.com/surf-news/fall-fall-part-2-east-coast/167660 For any photo nerds, it's shot on a nikon d5100 with a manual focus nikon 50mm f1:1.2 lens.
  9. Boutta drive from Haddonfield, NJ back to my place in Bryn Mawr. Hoping 76 isn't a nightmare.
  10. Maybe use a different browser (Chrome or Brave), not sure if that'll help? Both work fine on this site for me. I had an s22 ultra until it was stolen out of my back pocket at NOTO nightclub in Philly when I was leaving a Kaskade show there. Luckily renters insurance paid out for the stolen phone. I miss the camera on the s22 though, I remember taking a picture from my buddy's balcony on 85th st in Sea Isle, and was able to read the Avalon water tower by zooming in with the 100x zoom. That's 2 miles as the crow flies. Mind blowing.
  11. Hey everyone! I'm really proud of this and wanted to share it with you all as members across this forum have been instrumental in the growth of my passion for, and knowledge of, weather. I wrote an article for TheInertia.com about a picture I took following the January 29th, 2022 snowstorm that hit our region. For many in PA, this wasn't a very great event, maybe 4-6 inches, but for those along the central shores of New Jersey, it was a different story. Thanks to some of the reports on this site, I made the call to drive down to LBI for sunrise and captured a bunch of really great shots of the snow along with the remaining swell in the water. I submitted some of the shots from this prolific morning of photography to theinertia.com's annual surf photo contest. They reached out to me on instagram and asked me to send a few sentences over about a particular shot. Since "I have an unhealthy obsession with snow and waves", I sent them over 1,500 words. Click here to read the article: All-Time: 'How I Captured This Freeze Frame of a Frozen A-Frame Below is a satellite image from the day I took the picture, displaying the cold offshore flow and clear conditions following the system.

  13. Seeing like 1 flake every 5 seconds here in Bryn Mawr.
  14. Magicseaweed recently quoted me and featured 2 of my images in their article about the Hurricane Fiona swell here in NJ (9/23). I've been reading these writeups for the past 5 years, and casually shooting waves when out of the water for just as long, so I'm really stoked to be featured my first time submitting content! Read the aricle here: https://magicseaweed.com/news/gallery-hurricane-fiona/12974/
  15. I never got around to posting the pics from my camera after this storm, one of them was featured by The Inertia to promote their 2022 Surf Photo Contest that I entered. Here's the one that was featured: Here's a side by side of the same location in Harvey Cedars, first pic taken 1/30, the other 7/19. More images from my DSLR: If you want any of these as prints, just message me.
  16. Partially regretting buying a turbo forester just bc it kills me having to put premium in, but ive been working from home the past 5 months so I don't drive too much anymore. Although, I was driving back from the city last night around 2:30am and this jeep had no lights on and was swerving all over 76 so I called them in to police bc I just couldn't ignore it in case they crashed into someone.
  17. Haven't posted in a while.. here's some hail action from an hour ago. Sorry for the vertical video I posted this to my snapchat and then figured you guys might wanna see because it looks like the heaviest returns were over my area as the storm passed through.
  18. Pileup On I-80 in Schuylkill County a few hours ago due to snow squall conditions, untreated roads and just overall poor driving.
  19. Kind of off-topic but here's a run I filmed at Jay Peak last year. This was the last time I was healthy enough to ride a snowboard. Just got an epidural injection in my back on Thursday, hoping for some progress. I really miss this, it was the main reason I got into weather in the first place. I have a bunch more POV footage from this trip, it was sick. Some of it is on my channel, feel free to check it out. Hope everyone is enjoying this snowy Saturday.
  20. Went from rain to a lot of snow real quick. Power went out for a few mins. Wind already ripping out of the NW. My gf is up somewhere in the poconos snowboarding without me lol I'll try to get her to send some pics today.
  21. This flag is looking a little tattered after these past few wind events.
  22. First flakes 20 mins after that first pic I posted.
  23. I use an image hosting website, such as imgur.com. Make an account and upload as hidden, then copy the direct image url and paste it into the comment field in amwx.com and it automatically embeds the image. No file size issues because the files aren't uploaded to amwx.
