I certainly remember 93 but don’t remember 96 being much here in Kingsport except the largest snow “feathers” I have ever seen. I kid you not, wider than my hands. Must have been some magic in the dendrite zone.

lol. You guys talking about moving on to the next storm! Now I know how folks out west feel on election night when the media starts saying it’s basically over and there are still several hours left to vote. Those of us in the TRI area have several hours of snow left and we are going to make it count. Perhaps wishful thinking. Oh and it’s ripping here right now - finally!

It appears to me the latest radar returns are showing lots of dry air infiltrating across the state, breaking up what was solid returns. Anyone else seeing this?
-
Kind of embarrassed to ask this question since I’ve lived here my whole life, but what exact area is MRX referring to when they say the southern Appalachian foothills?
-
Yeah, that was posted earlier this morning after they got reports that we already had an inch in Kingsport. Not bad with a 20% chance of flurries.

Interesting discussion and looking forward to watching the models over the next few days. If you get bored, make sure to take a look at the Southern forum. We need to get some of them a get well soon card. They aren’t sick, just mean and they need to do better!

I'd like to suggest that when we are tracking and commenting on multiple storms, that everyone please ensure you specifically designate which storm you are commenting on. The forum is getting really hard to follow with so many non-descriptive comments. Not trying to complain, just really interested in following what everyone is thinking. Appreciate all the input.

Rain and snow in Blountville. Temp went from 45 to 39 in about four minutes.
-
.45 inches of rain last night and 37 degrees this morning. The breeze has a chill.
-
Very rare to have thunder and lightning at 45 degrees!
-
This morning’s main takeaway- When trying to determine weather past 10 days, one could throw a dart on a board and be just as accurate as using all the current tools that are available. There are just too many variables involved that we have absolutely no control over.

That was a fascinating article but left me wondering why they didn’t go further in their study to answer their own unanswered questions about teleconnections.

Been a long time since we've had rain forecasted for 5 consecutive days. Glad East TN is expected to get less than the mid-state area. Snow-pack in Kingsport is already gone so hopefully flooding won't be an issue here.

Interesting that yesterday some thought the valley would be left out. Look at that 9 inch tally on Sullivan County. -

I’ll take that 5.2 in Colonial Heights thank you very much. What’s the latest you think models will continue to change? Sunday PM? -

Seems it's been quite a few years since we've been able to see a setup like this. Decent precip amounts falling into very cold air. Looking forward to 15 to 1 or even greater rates. Bring the Goose feathers. -

Yes, +20 days wipe out a lot of -5 days in a hurry. -

Local met @ wjhl says snow next Friday. Rare for him to mention snow that far out. Obviously signs are improving.
