  2. How's this for a midrange forecast? Way too soon to know what happens but fun to look at.

Rain will develop today as a frontal boundary moves across the region. The periods of rain will change over to snow by mid to late afternoon over some of the higher elevations, with a change to all snow showers even in valley areas tonight. Snowfall amounts of up to an inch will be possible across the Northern Plateau, Southwest Virginia, and Northeast Tennesee by late tonight, with higher amounts up to 2 inches over some of the higher elevations. Travel may become difficult due to snow covered roads and reduced visibility especially over the higher elevations. If you must travel, use caution while driving. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio and other local media for further details or updates.
  4. NE TN will be below freezing Wednesday night, so ground temps should accommodate any snow that does fall.
  5. Just browsing this forum but wow! When is the last time South Carolina had anything like this verify?
  6. After all this warmth, looking forward to 18 degrees Friday night and a crackling fire.
  7. 44 and heavy rain in Kingsport. Temp dropped 10 degrees in last hour.
  8. Too bad that snow isn't coming predominantly at night. We will take whatever we can get.
  9. Early April Fools? https://www.facebook.com/100010446994249/posts/820902831601276/?sfnsn=mo
  10. Non using letters??? LOL! I think they meant anafrontal. A front at which the warm air is ascending the frontal surface up to high altitudes. With anafronts, precipitation may occur to the rear of the front and is sometimes associated with cyclogenesis.
  11. I don't ever remember seeing Mack positively excited. Although I'll admit to being around only about 2 yrs.
  12. I certainly agree with your description of the snowflakes. Those were huge. The ones in 1998 were longer, we all thought those looked like chicken feathers.
  13. Looks like it's time for fresh kitty litter.
  14. Definitely possibly. In NE TN, it is not unusual to go below zero.
  15. Don't forget, today is only the 7th day of winter. Lots of opportunities still to come.
