Yea weird...it's been updated at least half a dozen times since 4am. Wonder if it's a computer error? Went from nothing to a steady snow in ~10 min in Gaithersburg.

Montgomery County Public Schools and offices will be closed Wednesday, February 20, 2019 due to pending emergency weather conditions. All school and community activities in school buildings also are canceled tomorrow. All childcare centers located in school buildings will also be closed.

It's a total disaster. The entire 12z suite has been pointing to the wheels falling off. 18z better stop the bleeding or else it's going to be ugly tomorrow.

A terrible forecast...whoever made that should be fired.

As of 1pm, the cirrus function on GOES-16 shows a thicker cloud deck streaming into the area from the west...our EOC wx station shows the solar energy dropping off from 300 watts at 11am to just 40 now. That should really cut down on temperatures across the area for the rest of the day.

When I was a lead forecaster in college, we were always taught to read the NCEP diagnostic disco first before looking at anything else...either obs or models. You learn so much through that one product.

It's certainly possible the 3k NAM is right for several reasons: 1.) the jet streak was well sampled by the the RAOBs out of New York this morning. 2.) we've seen the last minute north trend all winter, this could be it. 3.) ian is coming back from vacation in time for the "storm" so this thing is falling apart just in time for him to get back in town
