We love driving up there. We go to Cascade all the time then drive up to the old hang glider spot. You can see everything so beautifully. Fishing at Rt. Ritchie is pretty nice too.
In set ups like this, the Catoctin Mts. can jackpot easily. They are close to 2,000 ft. in elevation near Penn Mar / Cascade and don't suffer from virga like us low-landers.
It's possible that it could be right tonight for the wrong reasons. We have fresh snow, clear skies and light winds tonight so it could verify pretty close.
HRR 2m temps have been about 3 to 5 degrees too cold with this air mass. I've been seeing a lot of posts on Wx Twitter about how the HRRR de-couples the atmosphere too quickly and has a cold bias with 2m temps.
Yup. As I mentioned earlier, it's low topped stuff that appears to fade out in between radar sites. Someone needs to tell that to Crankwxguy on Twitter.
