  1. The 21z RAP is coming in colder. Has TYS at -4 Friday morning with a -22 wind chill. It's also dryer than other modeling.
  2. I believe it was in Feb '14 or possibly '15 when we had a surprise inch fall at 20 degrees. I saw more wrecks during that event that any other in memory. Granted Knox county didn't bother to put down salt, not that it would have helped a whole lot at those temps, but still. If the Kuchera ratios of 24 to 1 posted earlier are accurate, what little QPF we do get will me maximized and roads will be wild.
  3. It was the symbology of the maps that really hyped the weenies. No cotton candy gradients, Earl rocked a serious contrasting color scheme. We were like “I’m right on the edge of brown and white! Between 14 and 18 inches bruh!”
  4. Long range NAM clowns, particularly of the Earl Barker variety (if I'm remembering his name correctly) were high quality entertainment in years past.
  5. The NAM is all over the place with the timing and amount of precip. Like John said, it's still early for that model. It'll be interesting to see where it settles the next couple of runs.
  6. I'm really sorry for the animals and homeless people that will have to brave this.
  7. That's a white Christmas for much of the forum area considering likely ratios.
  8. No kiddin. I recently moved to Halls from west Knox and have already documented significant differences in temps and precip nestled between Black Oak Ridge and Beaver Ridge. Hoping to see more flakes this year (although last season wasn't bad out west).
  9. The blue line is I-40. I'm one mile south to scale. We got lit up!
  10. I got absolutely hammered in west Knox tonight. The storm that came through was quite strong as well.
  11. Chiming in late, but my official west Knox county measurement was 7 inches. That beats 2014 and 2015 for this location which were both around 6 inches. It's possible January 2000 was higher, although I was traveling at the time and wasn't in West Knox to measure. Regardless, this was an historic snowstorm for this area and it was a ton of fun watching the stars line up to really allow us to cash in in the central valley. Helluva storm!
  12. Finely flaked snow, coming down hard, wind blown, parking lots getting white. I'm showing 31 degrees on the weather station.
  13. Still got my windows open, currently at 72 in the living room. I can better listen for thunder snow this way might as well keep em open.
  14. Got dang son, you ain't kidding, pouring heavy wet snow and everything is insta white. R.I.P. puddles.
  15. Can confirm, I'm ripping sleet with flakes at a good rate one mile south of the cedar bluff exit, no more rain.
  16. When I saw that pancake table someone posted earlier I thought of you. Five inches is nothing to sneeze at, good for you my friend!
  17. Some of the models have been honking an initial sleet layer for days. Good on them.
