  1. Lately GFS has led the way with the "idea of snow" but not necessarily the "details".
  2. Towson, MD Baltimore County B+ slightly below average snow overall, but cold made the frozen precip stick around for a long time! The big January event gave 8 inches of snow plus 4 inches of sleet. It become rock solid and simply did not melt for a month. Schools closed for a week. Plus several other smaller snow events. We just missed out on the northeast blizzard. If we had got a full hit, it would have been an "A" grade. Essence of the winter was long duration cold, which is not common here.
  3. actually, I'm pretty sure I hear sleet out there, but there's no way I'm getting out of my recliner to check. Cat is settled on my lap! But it is definitely sounding like sleet mixing in.
  4. heavy, heavy snow in Towson! Roads are caving! Go GFS!!
  5. I once heard from a poster that it only rains in Georgetown
  6. GFS was extremely persistent on a deep low close the coast for many runs. Other models were like "yea, right" In the end the appears to have been a meeting in the middle that mostly sucked for DCA and BWI peeps. I think GFS just had too much emphasis in the lowing bombing in a perfect position for DCA and BWI areas, but in the end the bomb must have been just a bit too north and east for our latitude to fully maximize. I am sure that many other factors played into it as well, but we really needed the strong fetch from the coastal to get the big stuff and we simply did not get that. Maybe some backside love tonight but I doubt much,
  7. The snow mix has started just to your north. It should not be long for you. I think 2-4 is reasonable. I am also concerned about being stuck in subsidence zone. Most models had that look for Baltimore area.
  8. big ole flakes mixing in her in Towson. But will it stay? What's happening up 83? I am looking for a snow drive but not sure what directions I should go? West? North? East? Help!!
  9. I've been telling myself the same thing! Even though I am looking forward to spring gardening weather, I still get that awful feeling when I am in the midst of a snow bust. Years of being a weather weenie school teacher messes with your emotions when it comes to snow. lol.
  10. nevermind. rain looks normal again. Guessing we go back and forth for the bulk of the day, but hoping all snow kicks in before noon
  11. colder can't hurt. But might not be enough for early stuff. Is early stuff supposed to be light or thumpy? I thought it was supposed to be light.
  12. very consistent with qpf. but the snow fall has decreased almost through out our region. We shall see.
  13. Agree. The distribution of precip is definitely off from the previous run, unless your in NJ. This is all just a simulation until game time. Either way we slice it, we gonna get snow! Let's enjoy every moment of it!!
  14. Amazing photos!! Thanks for sharing!!
  15. where the heck is PSU? and what happened to usedtobe? I really miss his posting here.
  16. now this is a map worth showing! my all time favorite with absolutely unbelievable rates in Baltimore!!
  17. will it hold for another 36 hours? Hopefully returns to its first idea of insane blizzard!
  18. With a low in that location, I still think the ccb band will be further west some.
  19. High of 50 today. I thought I would try to do some gardening since it was so nice out. Tried to dig up some of the darn onion grass that always shoots up this time of year. The ground was still rock solid frozen. I think this bodes well for our event on Sunday. This event is occurring after a long, long cold period. Ground temps are still really cold. I'm hoping that we bust on the cold side of this event.
