  1. From Facebook: 59 years ago on February 13, 1960, 17.5 inches of snow dumped in Knoxville. The snowfall total from this storm was 18.8 inches. 17.5 inches of snow is the most snow in one day in Knoxville since records began in 1871. It was 71° 3 days before this 18.8" of snow and it was also 71° in Knoxville 2 days before the Blizzard of 93! Knoxville Monthly Snowfall totals in 1960: January 1960: 8.9" February 1960: 23.3" March 1960: 20.2" (3 snowstorms on 2nd-3rd, 9th, and 11th) 56.7" of snow fell in Knoxville from 1959-1960, the most snow in one year in Knoxville since records began in 1871. 2. At first I thought you were talking snow accumulations.....only to realize you mean more rain. Dadgumit!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Reading the verdict on DeSousa last week made me so dadgum mad!!! I absolutely can not stand the NCAA. I believe their should be some oversight to college athletics so things don't get way out of control...but the NCAA isn't that organization. I've always wondered what would happen if several of the Power conferences just thumbed their nose at the NCAA and started their own "league". Like the fabled Tauntaun snowstorms......one can only dream!!!
  4. And lets hope the refs (models) don't blow another call!!!!
  5. Right there with you!!! The ONLY game I went to this year was the ONLY game they have lost!!! Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk
  6. I know gulf storms can sometimes rob our area of anything decent and we end up with little.....could that be a possibility based on this gif you posted? I wouldn’t think so....at least not this time b/c of the strength of the system, the placement of the low, and it looks like more of a squall line instead of persistent cells firing along the coastal regions. But based on the microclimates of our area.... I never say never. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. New "Brining" technology. Just gotta get some snow to test it out: https://www.ornl.gov/node/47094
  8. There's also this from IBM that came out today: https://www-engadget-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.engadget.com/amp/2019/01/08/ibm-smartphone-improve-weather-forecasts/?amp_js_v=a2&amp_gsa=1#referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.engadget.com%2F2019%2F01%2F08%2Fibm-smartphone-improve-weather-forecasts%2F EDIT TO ADD: Just noticed it's pretty much the same article. My fault. I couldn't read your entire post on my SMART Phone.

  10. Don't get me started on leaves!!! Spent a few hours a a week and a half ago using the leaf blower to clear the yard, then come back from NYC yesterday and looks like every tree in the Northern Hemisphere exploded over our house while we were gone. I just had that defeated Maytag Man look on my face when we pulled in the driveway.
  11. Just sharing my seats at the Kansas and Tennessee game. Apologies to Jeff.....but GO VOLS!!! Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk
  12. Regarding the UT / GA-Tech game - I was listening on the radio and Kessling said the crew was a Final Four crew, so they were calling the game tight. Also, early in the season there's always "points of emphasis" that officials enforce, so they tend to call the games a bit more strict to get the point(s) across. It usually calms down as the season goes on. My two cents.....not an official/referee....just MANY years working in the sports/athletic realm.
