bookmark and come back to it, i understand though -
Incredible footage but so sad. I hear there's 3-4 fatalities. Someone said Michigan's deadliest tornado since may 1980.

now this video is something I never seen in my 67 years of living today. A F-2/3 tornado hitting Michigan in early March next to a body of water being completly frozen. How weird is that? https://www.facebook.com/reel/911913728151145 -
Stone Cow? Beautiful area.

Winter 2025-26 Grading

Richmond…A- Varina,Va (5 miles SE of RIC) 12/5. 2.1” snow 12/8 5.0” snow 12/14 0.10” Dusting 7.2” Total (almost at RIC yearly average of 8.8”.) 1/25 .25 snow 1/25 3”snow followed by 1.5”sleet/frz rain 2/4 Flurries 2/6 2.5” arctic front snow Total 12.95” snow. - 1.5” ice A- ……..I give it a minus because of the 2 major snowstorms that were close by, but missed out on. If we had received one of those storms, this would’ve been the best winter since 2010. Great cold from December thru February. Not to mention local schools were out for 2 weeks due to solid ice pack. -

Wyandotte, MI. I usually dont grade until April but likely grade will be: B+ Snowfall to date is 39.8", which is a few inches shy of annual 43" average (but again, we average snow into April). Snowfall was frequent (esp Dec-Jan) but no huge storms, the two largest being 6.2" & 5.2". Snowcover was fantastic. From late November through the 3rd week of February, the ground was blanketed in snow nearly continuously with exception of 2 brief thaws (christmas week & 2nd week of Jan). Until melting the 2nd week of Feb, the snow was usually fresh and glittery. Cold was excellent. Ice thick on the lakes. 2nd colder than avg winter in a row, but this year much more than last. November and February finished slightly colder than avg, December and January solidly colder than avg. The quiet Feb (a boring month saved by snowcover) and mild bare start to march is what keeps it out of A- territory for now.

I can’t wait for more drought maps right after it rains… great times ahead. Just give me one more good snowstorm & then I will be ready for Spring. -
Was in Barre… very icy out there tonight.

On the higher quality version of this vid you can see a huge crack form in the ice right out in front of camera viewpoint. It then quickly expands and you can see waves splashing within it. Amazing video.

Are you as worried about the drought like I am? Sent from my SM-S731U using Tapatalk -
Coming back to this- Winter of 2025/26 was 4.6 degrees colder than the winter of 1926/27. Greta’s grandad wasn’t even an itch in great grandaddies pants, yet there were warmer than normal winters then too.

Winter is not over! No grades from me until April 10th when it becomes almost impossible to snow around here at that point. -
White Plains NY Snowfall ~140% of normal Snowstorms - 2 storms that were 16+, plus some nickels and dimes here and there. Most storms overperformed in fact. That factors a lot frankly in my grade. I was never let down. Temps - well below normal for all 3 met winter months. Too damn cold. Snowcover - I’d say 10 weeks of the 13, we had something OTG somewhere in my yard, all the way up to 30 inches in spots at one point. We still have a solid pack and will have snow for at least a few more days in the yard, piles longer. White Christmas - this puts it over the top for me. I’d sign up for this winter if given the chance every single time. A+

FWIW, Branch Co. Sheriff's Office says three dead, 12 injured. Of those 12, three are in the hospital. Cass County Sheriff confirms one dead, several injured. We are hearing it was a child, but that is unconfirmed. Devastating day for SW Michigan. Saw this on Michigan Native Photography:

I’m bitchy and biased but this week, kind of brought Greenfield to an A- winter grade.
-
32° with drizzle. This could go in either direction the next few hours. Snow pack is dense, deep and ripe!

Raleigh NC RATING: D Reasoning: cold was solid but we had 3 storms including 2 warnings and neither warning verified and all 3 storms underperformed forecasts. We got the lowest seasonal snow total (3.6” IMBY) in the entire state and had one of the most epic snow hole events of all time during the January 31 storm. Also the Christmas torch really sucked. Just painful all around

The DJF PNA looks like this The N. Pacific has more weight than N. America.. Dec had a really strong Aleutian ridge, and there was Aleutian ridge at other times in the Winter, so that is core-PNA calculation.
