  1. Past hour
  2. It actually feels hot. I'm wearing shorts too...short sleeved shirt and shorts. I'd actually probably be dying if I was wearing jeans.
  3. Weekend looks good here. 80 or more each day on Euro.
  4. The smoke put a damper on temps out here, thankfully it's clearing out now. High of only 75 at ISP so far, actually cooler than yesterday's high of 77.
  5. Up to 86/52 now. Really nice heater out there.
  6. alright ..it's a little warm. not quite 'hot' per se, but please don't sit so close to me warm
  7. I had a cape before this house-impossible to get cool air upstairs and the roofline was right there-no attic...terrible.
  8. If we can see it start to dip into negative around 50mb this will be a good sign of an overall weaker SPV no guarantees of anything other than probably not the near record levels we just saw. A lot of things still need to come together over the next few months. Still have yet to see a tropical system in the WPAC beat out last year but looking further into data it seems like the 8th of June is the latest for tropical storm and typhoon is the 21st.
  9. My current house is from 1985 and doesn't have it, but my neighbors does. I'm jealous. Like Brian said, it was perfect to put on for like 30 minutes during evenings like yesterday. The breeze it created was awesome too. My old house being a split level with the bedrooms on top level and the a/c unit pushing air from the basement that was pretty much 4 levels down was useless. Up to 86 here
  10. Obsolete-most of those are being torn down here and replaced with bigger homes
  11. 85 and a tad hazy. Hopefully lawn and plants can fully take in this sun and warmth for a while.
  12. My house is from the 50s and it doesn't have jack sht lol
  13. I found this going back a little further. From 1854-1896, that phase seemed overall cool I would say even though the chart doesn't outline that. So maybe this cool phase could last even longer? Hope not though! https://www.daculaweather.com/4_pdo_index.php This is pretty cool link for pdo as well.
  14. Funny thing is that I thought it was worse 2-3 years ago and then wasn’t as bad last year during the dry heat season.
  15. Mini split installs the next two days here.
  16. was probably an add on you could select when the house was being built....we are probably one of the few that still use it-but I don't like to turn on the AC unless it's needed-like the fresh air better but when it's HHH it goes on.
  17. My old house was from the late 70s, I think 77, and had it. It seems like all the split level homes in the neighborhood had it, but the bi-levels, colonials and ranches didn't.
  18. 1982 - A four day storm began over New England which produced up to 14 inches of rain in southern Connecticut breaching twenty-three dams and breaking two others. Damage was estimated at more than 276 million dollars. (David Ludlum) 1988 - A dozen cities in the eastern U.S. reported record low temp- eratures for the date, including Atlantic City NJ with a reading of 40 degrees. Fifteen cities in the north central U.S. reported record high temperatures for the date, including Glasgow MT and Havre MT with readings of 102 degrees. (The National Weather Summary) wow a 4 day storm in June 1982-- a few months after the historic April 1982 cold blizzard !! By the way this wasn't just a 4 day storm for New England, it was also for NYC and Long Island! I wonder how much rain fell here.... 14 inches of rain in Southern CT sounds like a lot of rain here too!! And it was 40 degrees at ACY on this date in 1988.... that must be the latest it's ever been 40 degrees there? 2 years ago history repeated itself and we were in the 40s here too! JFK: 49 (2023)
  19. Exactly...my house was built in 1973 and originally had no AC. It's loud but you turn it on and open some windows and the cool air comes rushing in-leave it on for 30 minutes after the sun goes down.
  20. 100x zoom. I'm not a camera expert. Thought that is what you meant.
  21. Probably was the "modern convenience" in late 1950s-60s before ACs took over?
  22. 1825 - A hurricane struck Long Island NY leveling trees and causing damage to ships. The early season hurricane, which originated around Cuba, caused major damage along the Atlantic coast from Charleston SC to New York City. Many were lost at sea. (David Ludlum) 1825: A severe storm of tropical origin swept up the Atlantic Coast during the first week of June 1825 with reports of significant damage from Florida to New York City. Shipping logs told of a disturbance at Santo Domingo on May 28th and Cuba on June 1st. Gales were reported at St. Augustine, Florida on the 2nd. The Norfolk and Portsmouth Herald reported "undiminished violence" from the gale force winds for 27 hours, ending on June 4th. The effect of the storm reached well inland. Washington had cold, heavy rain all day on the 4th with high winds laying the crops in the vicinity. The wind also tore up trees by the roots in front of the State House in Philadelphia. This storm impacted the New Jersey Coast and the Long Island area as well with high winds and a two-foot storm surge. A Columbian frigate was driven ashore as were many smaller boats. The largest loss of life occurred along the Long Island shore when a schooner capsized. The entire crew of seven was lost. wow, this was a hurricane that hit up here in the first week of June? what were the SSTs? a 2 foot storm surge sounds just below hurricane intensity though? Maybe a Cat 1-- any re-analysis done on this storm's track, point of landfall and intensity, Tony?
  23. it can't be 100x optical because that would necessitate a large heavy lens. I have a few digital cameras with 50X optical zoom and they all weigh over a pound lol. It's likely 10x optical and 10x digital zoom (combo is 100x). My cameras with 50X optical zoom also have 2x digital zoom (total of 100X like yours but heavier because 50x optical zoom weighs a lot and requires the lens to extend outwards about 6 inches from the body of the camera.)
