  2. Huge lighting bolt few minutes ago Sent from my SM-S731U using Tapatalk
  3. Snow squall warnings for NW NJ now.
  4. Latest short range guidance (HRRR) has it reaching the city between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM.
  5. Think it'll reach the immediate NYC Metro area?
  6. A large part of eastern and northeastern PA is now under snow squall warnings. This is very much the real deal as seen on traffic cams in that area. This will be approaching NW NJ and adjacent areas in less than an hour.
  7. A pretty clean front edge. The city lights are lighting this thing up like a wall see if I can grab some video stills and put em up.
  8. I'm walking back from ruttters near mile marker 38.8 i just saw multiple flashes of lightning .
  9. Solid 1.5" OTG from that over here. Happy new year
  10. Snow Squalls currently in the Scranton to Hazleton area are producing near whiteout conditions along parts of I80/I81. This feature is moving to the south and east at a brisk pace.
  11. We got our inch here…still snowing but arctic sand now.
  12. Squall line is currently stretching from cincy,oh to albany,ny..awaiting it's arrival here in the bronx.
  13. LI crew and @The 4 Seasons remember 1/4/18? That was an absolute monster for my area, LI, and much of NE. Actually looking at the snow map reminds me a lot of 1/29/22. Don’t think I ever realized how much snow that one dropped in northern Maine… And wow, I also didn’t realize 1/22/29 had some crazy maxes right around me. I’m pretty much spot on the left point in the 1 where it says 16 on this map over Toms River, and that’s about exactly what I had in that storm. But I just missed out on local maxes of 18-19 and apparently 21! Crazy. This one also crushed LI… really crushed, like 25 inches I recall? And the city + immediate metro did a bit better than in 1/4/18; a bit spottier in New England but some areas also got absolutely crushed IIRC. Both storms seem as if they were a 50ish mile westward shift away from being properly historic.
  14. It’s still snowing quite hard, I’m pretty sure I have in the ballpark of 2-3” total but it’s been blowing around so much that it is going to be hard to get good measurements. Temps just prior to the squall arrival were up as high as 31.5ºF and now 45 minutes later it’s 21ºF. Looks like a rough go of it on the roads right now. This is the closest 511 cam to my house, about half a mile away.
  15. Today
  16. 0z EPS tries to develop -EPO mid-month, which would quickly cool down the NE, while other models have more -WPO/-AO.. ridge near Russia. Interesting difference
  17. We went to friends in pjs and a pot luck, gifts for kids, and was home before 1 lol
  18. I'll probably have to stay up until 5am to get in on this squall
  19. Just came thru here. Was rippin' pretty good. No flashes, no rumbles, though. Guess I will go to sleep.
  20. DCA _ NYC _ BOS _ ORD _ ATL _ IAH _ DEN _ PHX _ SEA -1.4 -1.3 -1.9 -0.6 +1.2 +1.4 +1.4 +1.6 +1.2
  21. Finally with better snow growth here. Good luck to everyone in SNE.
  22. Most of my memories are from situations like this, usually in a squall line or strong arctic front. Honestly its probably not super rare for our region as a whole in this type of setup. Now getting it as part of a noreaster I can't recall the last time that happened. If I hadn't been outside I would have probably missed it. I'm not sure if there are any official statistics on it or not.
  23. Right on the edge here. Those annoying models that said we would be right on the edge were right. How annoying.
