A pretty nice tornado around Bennett today.

I’ve been 4 or 5 times over the years and always enjoyed it but the last time I checked tickets were $100+ just to walk in the gates plus parking.

This is west of Weatherford, Texas -
May 2025 has a decent resemblance to a blend of May 2007/2016 so far. Blazing heat north central us, some coolness south central us, and then muted anomalies by the coasts. Monsoon development looks like it is on schedule in old Mexico. Models have had a cooler than normal Summer for the Southwest. On-time monsoon development is consistent with that idea. Cold/Wet July tends to precede snowy December here. We really haven't had a big December in a while locally - since 2015. It is about due. Cool June is a decent indicator for out-of-winter heavy snow events locally, so will be watching that too. My hunch is we get a warm/wet winter, with cool Fall. But we'll see. Very early.

A lot of fun though. I haven't been there in years.

I'm with you unfortunately. I definitely will! Life gets in the way sometimes.

While I realize tornados are spawned as a result of multiple synoptic features coming together at the same area, I still am amazed that there are so many of them at night. Probably because here in the east, we see so many thunderstorms losing their intensity as they approach our area in the evening, as the sun's energy is removed, thus eliminating some of the lift to produce the higher cloud heights. Sort of seems counter intuitive. Not to say we don't see severe thunderstorms at night in the summertime...

This looks primed to take off. Ingested a bit of junk convection but if it can stay clean it'll be in a good environment.
-
The upper atmosphere could be a bit chill. Can't rule out a shower. WX/PT

I’m not sure what we are freaking discussing here. If the models show its was going to be above normal, then we would talk about it being above normal. Every major global ensemble looks to be -5 to -10 for most of the next 2 weeks. I’m not rooting for it, just discussing what the forecast is. Looks to be active as well, with nice days mixed in. Jeez…

Where are you located? Tolland Connecticut?
-
What website did you use for that airport information? It's pretty cool.

Yea it still hasn't gotten started here yet. We've had a couple days of 100+ and then it's being knocked down to the 80s and lower 90s for several days. Last week we even had multiple mostly overcast days. This upcoming week it looks like we might get our warmest days of the year Wednesday through Friday with highs topping out around 104, but cooling down again after with another trough approaching.

Not really, it was warm through most of the country. Only the Pacific coast saw below average temperatures, and it wasn't by much: -
Man you live in the tropics. When you blow away Bradley by 8° that's saying something.

Just got back from a couple hours on the bike near Centennial and saw at least 2 of those storms form right overhead and move quickly to the northeast. They're going from nothing to nasty/starting to rotate in 30 minutes. Missed getting hailed on (0.5-0.6" hail at our house) by about 10 minutes ... one more reason to wear a helmet. -
