NY isn’t off fossil fuels by any means, we just buy it from elsewhere. We produce clean energy - but thats not what we use by and large. NY has utterly lost control of energy prices despite having one of the largest last untapped clean energy sources in the US. The propaganda is if the smoke came out of a stack in another state, it didn’t happen. We believe it nonetheless. France has 60+ reactors running, with over 70% of their electricity production. Amazing. Why cant we be like France. Nice food too. They are also the closest country in the free world to a fusion reactor apparently. I think nuclear return to the US though in a relatively short time in many states (never here). We just need to find scientists who will leave their countries and work here. We don’t have strong nuclear programs in universities anymore. (We do have strong gender studies programs though). The only nuclear engineers we have work in the Navy and they will be busy fighting China in a few years.

Another beautiful spring day. downslope persistence ftw.
-
We watched your bus full of campers struggling up the hill. Max weight capacity exceeded . Foot on pedal in drive and it’s going backwards SSB
-
it's also cloudy now
-
Smoke lifting north as trof / upper level low lifts out. Elevated and diluted smoke reaching into SNJ this morning.
-
Wonderful day here. Again. sorry guy GWDLT. Downslope FTW is the theme.

2025-2026 ENSO

The main issue with the 2013-2014 analog was that this past year was -EPO driven than -WPO, but if you compare H5 composites, there were plenty of similarities due to the fairly favorable extra tropical Pacific. 2012-2013 acted more like a warm ENSO event, with a mild December and a very active February/March. -
Thank you!

You're completely dismissing the inherent corruption and greed of these corporations that need to be directly regulated and overseen by the state. we need state ownership of power companies pure and simple. *Con* Edison and the failed Lilco have shown that these companies can't be trusted.

43 degrees this morning to open June. Great sleeping weather with the windows open and the breeze blowing. About to come to an end. Not expecting an overnight low of 43 again until the Fall.
-
In the record books there are several examples of record hot streaks that haven't been matched since, I just listed the two most glaring examples. 1955 had the most 95+ days. 1949 had 5 days of 99 degrees or higher. 1948 had three days of 100 degrees or higher even at JFK. There is something unique about this period that hasn't been matched since. 2010 was absolutely amazing and set the JFK records for several categories but didn't have a super heatwave like that. It looks like 2002 was the last time we had one of those.

I watched radar.

Overnight low of 43 degrees. Windows were open, breeze blowing. Great sleeping weather for the opening of June. Won't last much longer. Had an additional .19" of rain last 24 hours. Event total was 3.05".

Walt, this is going to be a level 4 Geomagnetic storm, I read that aurorae viewing is possible down to the Carolinas and Alabama. Even if you can't see them you can still capture them with your camera.

I would suggest that you stop speaking in absolutes and folks would probably be more receptive to these theories. -
Oh yeah. Have to add up the increments…always fun with the snow cores and melting down the snow and subtracting out what you add in…sometimes 3”+. I just didn’t want to mess with it while it was actively raining…hence asking PF for the estimate since VT likes to do rainstorms in inches and not tenths. lol

Con Edison with a heavy emphasis on the *Con* part, this is a corrupt company and have been prosecuted as such.

I can't imagine getting that kind of heat, not even now, 42 years later, when our climate is warmer. Maybe September 2010 was the closest we've come to a repeat, although even that fell short of what happened in September 1983.
-
You really have no clue . Look at a radar loop yesterday afternoon / evening. Stick with dirty campers Scooter Struggle Bus completely busted and ofc road.
-
Good shots at rain coming up. Need lots of precip to stave off worsening drought conditions. Most fires in NE MN are out now. Jenkins fire has some hot spots that are being worked on. Small fire up in the BWCA is being tended too as well.
-
sorry about that shoe-print
-
46 this morning here. This is the kind of day when you go out fishing early in the morning you need a hoodie/pants, and by 10am u switch to shorts/t-shirt.

100% disagree. You're constant relying on a reported yearly global temp to dictate a local areas climate makes zero sense. You state way too many opinions as matter of fact. But the bottom line to assert that everyone is in a different climate than 2010 is downright nuts. In fact, since 2010 i have seen more severe cold snaps than I did in the several decades before then. This morning we saw a low of 42 at Detroit with 30s in outlying areas for the coldest June temp since 2003. I can sense your disappointment that NYC did not get a warmer than avg winter in 2024-25 as you counted on to keep up your warm streak, so we have turned the tables now from the expectations for a torch winter in '24-25 to the reality that it was far from torch. So NOW we hear that 2024-25 would've been 2013-14 if it happened 20 years earlier . Oh and by the way. Ive been on weather forums since 2002. So I am able to clearly remember the "winters are no more" clown talk of the late 1990s. Then we lived through a historic stretch of winters which ended a short decade ago but that some now try to sweep under the rug and discuss the point of no return. It's amazing that we can analyze winters from 130 years ago but minimize the historically severe nature of winters from 10-15 years ago. -
Those weren’t upslope rains. It was raining in the CT valley. Kevin thinks he lives in the sierra.

When is UPTON going to learn. They had mostly sunny in their forecast last Sunday Monday and Today. All 3 days ended up being mostly cloudy
