Central Gulf Coast is getting more rain. These communities usually pick up lots and lots and lots and lots of rain every year. They ARE right on the Gulf Coast, after all. But this autumn/winter/spring 2027 you can multiply that by at least 10. Hope they love living underwater, because that's going to happen. Then a Campeche tropical feature may hit Texas in a few days. It's starting. Very Strong El Nino is now interacting with the 500 millibar pressure surface over North America and the United States. I hope south central Texas gets utterly obliterated by rain. I am dyin to see water come UP thru drains because of flooding.

The GFS ensemble thinks a below normal temperature month for October is underway...

Without Lamar I could easily see them losing to Atlanta. Raven's scored zero points in the second half today. With Lamar this game would have been 40-14, despite a million penalties.

All good. With lack of time to do these analyses myself, I tend to make these one off comments going only by memory. But I probably shouldn’t do that, since I work in a different field now and my memory isn’t what it used to be

LOTS of data missing from this, but my grandmother lived in Quinwood from 1988-2011, epic winters there! The Jan 1998 data isn't there, but I KNOW they had 27" fall from that event, plus a few smaller ones the rest of the month. PS- I forgot about that incredible Feb in 2010 lol!

Yeah, I'm going wet and mild this winter in my forecast mapping. I think most of us will have a two-week window where a boom/bust storm or two could emerge. While I do NOT think we get shut out entirely in the wintry mischief department, I do think we see plenty of cold air chasing moisture scenarios and an above average amount of cloudy/gloomy days. Less DJF sunshine is one prediction I feel confident making. Might be a case where winter looks the part more than acts the part. Then again...all it takes is one at this latitude.

Red oaks, also white ash, are easy to split. Therefore, when those species have V-shaped forks, they're vulnerable to ice and/or wind. Another pure blue day after the frost. Colors are past peak, ash nearly bare, oaks mostly still green.

It depends on where you get bit and how desperate the mosquito was. Stay well and refreshed, as always …….
