  1. Past hour
  2. I have a trip planned to Tornado Alley the 1st week of August! Staying 3 nights in Norman, OK, Osage Beach, MO, and Dubuque, IA. Touring the National Weather Center in Norman. I know it's not the peak tornado season down there, but what do you folks think the odds are of me encountering some severe weather down there that time of year?
  3. Was tornado warned here but weak rotation passed northwest of here on a weakening trend. Did get a nice period of 50mph winds and near zero visibility in absolute car wash style deluge. Up to 0.85" for the day but guessing a good amount of rain blew across the rain funnel during the storm. EDIT: Also, lol at SPC bumping us out of the slight after days of being in it, only to add it back late in the day.
  4. 79.7 my high. I will call it 80 for the fourth time this year.
  5. They love the humid continental climate we have here . This week they will be out in full force
  6. Yeah they do. Same Black flies as the rest of Massachusetts.
  7. And in September the yellow jackets emerge!!!
  8. Fruit flies have been bad here all winter too, Usually they're a summer problem.
  9. One of my favorite things anyone ever invented is that fly swatter that looks like a tennis racket. Bzzzzzzxttttt!!! electric death.
  10. We have black flies here. And gnats. And mosquitoes. And deer flies. And ticks. I hate bugs.
  11. Dude I give you huge props for running every morning in that. They are absolutely brutal in the woods there. Back in high school and college, spending the summers living and working in Woodstock I would suffer through running the dirt roads through the woods around those parts (we were 1.5 miles from any pavement, so could do a quick out and back at 3 miles, or longer 5 mile loops with some minor pavement running). It was so bad that several times a week I would actually drive to the Woodstock track and athletic complex that was out in the open, mowed around it, tennis courts, etc. The deer flies didn't hit you at the track. Sometimes I'd rather run around in a circle 12 to 20 times at the track, bored out of my mind, than deal with 2-6 deer flies buzzing and trying to bite you the whole time while running the dirt roads.
  12. Thanks, I see Aubuchon has it to at 45%. Have to be careful with that stuff but at least my yard will smell like a salad.
  13. Come to my area from mid June until early August. The deer flies can be insane. Although last summer wasn’t too bad. The horse flies come a bit later on
  14. Had a high temp of 84 here today. We might hit 90 tomorrow. Today I went up to Swartswood Park in Sussex County to do some hiking. It was absolutely perfect summer weather.
  15. So you don't have the "biting gnats." Just the annoying gnats.
  16. Not only do they bite, They suck.
  17. Those don’t bite. Just annoying.
  18. Black flies bite. Kevin is talking about different things. We don’t have black flies.
  19. 2001 had one of the warmest 5 day periods from Aug 6 - 10th. 2005 was very hot in other parts of the region , NJ had 3-4 days in the 100s and a very sustained hot streak in Jun. 98 was on the cooler side each of the 3 months Ju-Jul-AU 1987/1988 were both very hot, 1989 near even.
  20. Nice shot. I just missed the sunset walking out of the gym. As cool as the apocalyptic smoke from 2 years ago was cool i would hard pass on a repeat.

  22. Deer flies as much as I hate them Don't do as much a damage as Black flies. Mostly bite my hands when I'm riding my ATV in the woods. Once you stop and start working the numbers decrease.
