Hey Scott ... re our recursion argument, get a load of the 12z GGEM Look familiar ? ... the emerged out of a banal/flat look, albeit modestly above normal in its own rights, pattern orientation from the previous couple of cycles. This is just for the example for now - -
That happened at my mom's in AZ in 2023. It was the nonsoon monsoon, but we did get one big storm, which had to rip the roof off her patio. Glad it wasn't the main roof, but still... I was just glad I was out there when it happened as it was easier for me to get it fixed as opposed to her trying with her handicapped condition.

Insane amount of lightning last night, and has been pouring all morning here.

could you please repost this in the July thread ?

I get one "decent" thunderstorm and lose a big tree because of it. Give me light rain/drizzle/mist 24/7/365.
-
We can't get a decent thunderstorm to save our lives here, but we do drizzle and mist quite well... FML

Good graphic. All supportive of the current thinking of where we are heading…..which is -ENSO (cold-neutral or weak La Niña)

Clouds are getting thinner around the area, temps might rise in response. The Sun is a beast this time of year

So oppressive summeh has not locked in until Halloween? Shocked..

Likewise, I remember how cool 1986 was not just in July, but also in August, very clear haze free cool skies for my very first Perseid meteor shower (four straight nights in mid August) !!!!
-
68 with a cool breeze, I can live with this til November!
-
Holy moly - Just under 2" in the last 1.5 hours and still raining hard. Local roads passable (at least where I am) but need to drive down the middle. Didn't see this coming.

All the great ones really stand out, Don !! Does this mean to have a historic summer you need a hot fourth of July weekend (or sometime during that week or shortly thereafter) ?? Look at all these wonderful summers in the above chart: 1949, 1966, 1999, 2002, 2010 !!
