  3. This is the trap that I fell into going into the 2023-2024 season....all it means is competing forces, but there are no guarantees that the "forces" are good. I bombed that season, but haven't had a bad one since....learned a ton.
  4. Not historic but major If Noreasters were rated on a 5 point scale this would be a major a Cat 3. Both Sandy and December 1992 would rate a 5 that's historic. Yes a 3 of 5. December 1992 and Sandy would be 5 out of 5.p Possibly but again not historic Except for a few months last year there was never a real drought. I'm not going to use inflated averages to justify a drought. Summers are normally drier. And once this awful el nino ends we'll return to our hotter and drier summers next year. That last part is incorrect. December 1992 was far more historic than this storm on every metric. I'd put this third far behind both Sandy and December 1992. If you go farther back, to 1960, add Donna 1960 and Ash Wednesday 1962 to that list. There were sharks in people's driveways! December 1992 had a longer period of gusty winds than either here. Correct a 3 out of 5. Yes but not historic.
  5. I heard your wx station is one of those non-scientific ones. Sorry bud, we toss.
  6. Funny you mention that because this is my early-front runner-plot for December: Note the location of the ridge relative to the position on the EURO seasonal:
  7. snagged over an inch yesterday, storm total just under 2" how's that for scientific measurement?
  8. +0.93" = 4.21" event total Looking at my five years of CoCoRAHS data, 3 of my top 10 rainfall obs are from this year - all around 2.50" for the 7am-7am period. All that despite being still well BN on the year.

  12. 8 named storms looks good on paper until you look at how abysmal the ACE is
  13. Huh? Where and by what metric? Nationwide the start of this month was near or at record warm. Our area is AN for September.
  14. Low of 62. Beautiful pink sky view to the east from my train car window this morning.
  15. I report exact data rainfall and temps from a scientific wx station. . What kind of station do you have ? You seem very old fashioned and behind the times, so I’m guessing an old mercury thermometer mounted outside the kitchen window all rusted out.

  17. Way too many mistakes last night for them. They got dog walked by a 38 year old third string QB. Even when it looked like it was coming around they shot themselves in the foot. If you think that was bad wait till Stafford, Adams, and Williams carve em up next week.
  18. In spite of the forecasted warm cold see saw?

  20. One of the bigger beach erosion events of the 2020s so far.
  21. The big story as we head into October is that the 500mb ridge is setting up further south than the recent seasonal models were forecasting. This has been the case each month going back to May and June. The October El Nino ridge is typically located over the EPO region of NW Canada and Alaska. The forecasts drop this ridge down into the CONUS at least for early October. We’ll need to see what happens mid to late month for a complete picture. So if this model error pattern continues into the winter and spring, then the typical Nino ridge north of the Great Lakes would adjust further south than previous super El Niño events. The December ridge can typically be further south anyway to some extent. So the big test will probably come JFM. It will be interesting to see how things work out. This stronger mid-latitude ridge axis since the late spring is causing the PDO to remain negative and the AMO positive. It’s also evident to the AAM disparity that you noted. New forecasts for early October Seasonal forecast from early September Typical October El Niño pattern
