  1. Past hour
  2. Before going to bed I was expecting to see 10”+ amounts somewhere given that MCS sitting stationary for hours. Meanwhile this side of the lake dry as a bone as usual.
  3. It has a full on dry season vibe to it out there, and it doesn't look to change anytime within the next several days. Awesome weather, as long as you can find some shade.
  4. You just guaranteed your house will get blown or washed away in the next severe event lol…
  5. Figure it's time to look at this again to see what happened. 1. Invest 95L became Dexter, so that was a good call. 2. The follow up disturbance off the East Coast never materialized, and was probably one of the worst forecasts I've had. As for why it gave a head fake, I think a combination of shear and dry air (the opposite of what I expected) kept convection from organizing and even generating on a consistent basis. Awful, awful call. 3. The central Atlantic wave became 96L, but this call wasn't much better either. Simply put, MDR stability got it. It has been meandering for days in the open Atlantic, unable to generate consistent convection and organize. Not a good start.
  6. Had a low of 57 here. I cannot remember when we started August off this cold before. Simply amazing weather.
  7. wow and our climate was much colder in the late 70s. aside from that historically extreme heatwave in July 1977 and April 1976 of course.
  8. I keep waiting for it to change and it just never does. People wonder why we talk about Stein but it’s all we’ve got to get our rocks off.
  9. But it's much more fun with 100 degrees. 95 degrees is just meh regular heat. We haven't hit 100 in August since 2001 in NYC and after August 15th not since 1983. Newark shouldn't count they're basically an oven and have an even hotter climate than Philly does.
  10. the boring miserable kind of weather lol Some of those summers like 1949 and 1983 were really hot though.... Wow nice to see 1980 at the top of the list, that summer was much hotter than people think it was. 2010 and 1999 right up there too, so some of the summers in that list were very hot. Whats the JFK record for most days above 90 degrees and above 95 degrees, Chris??
  11. Best way is getting cyclogensis off a stalled front of SE coast, with troughing scooping it up the coast. Every year I see models try to squeeze a landfall between ridging and it never works out. Too thread the needle
  12. I've actually seen some split-off of Orioles fans between rooting for the Commanders and the Eagles or somebody else. But that may be just the page I follow, lol And hey...how long until the bellyaching about our Ravens well run organization starts? Then some could still be miserable if we don't win it all this year either! Now personally I only have a doubt because of the Manning-Lamar copycat pattern for the playoffs...both 3-5 starting year 8, Peyton didn't win it until Year 9...and of course you have the fact that no HC and QB duo have ever gotten a ring after not getting one within their first 5 years together...so ehh I don't know. We certainly are talented enough to do it--and we have been the last three years! But it's about whether it's meant to be this year.
  13. I guess the one piece of good news is that the original idea of the heat not rivaling the June and July widespread 100°+ temperatures will turn out to be correct this week. Since the models keep a very strong onshore flow influence. So maybe there could be a few local highs near 100° away from the sea breeze in NJ. But not the 103°-105° max heat of June and the 101°-103° max heat back in July. So at least we are making some progress in the right direction. But if we keep missing rainfall opportunities, then more 90°+ heat will be possible from time to time through September and maybe even into October. The big question is if the usual warm spots like Newark can get their first 100° after August 15th since 1993. That has been a tough record to beat. But it could only be a matter of time if one of these flash soil moisture type droughts overperforms.
  14. True CVs (actual development near the Cabo Verde Islands) are no different from an HECS. The big dog potential shows up from time to time but you need everything to line up for that potential to materialize.
  15. We are the San Diego of the east, and it has been that way for years now. No storms, no tropical, no snow. Just secondhand smoke and dews.
  16. I’m sitting next to my nephew who just happened to be born on the same day that Hurricane Bob came in. And he’s definitely no kid
  17. Everywhere is getting. Violent weather but here. Other than San Diego, we live in the most tranquil and boring area on the planet for weather.
  18. 34 years of flaccidity. Let’s do another 34 years.
  19. I’m not feeling this either..The boring weather regime continues
  20. Pretty wild in Milwaukee. 7-12” of rain last night and another huge round headed in now poised to drop 5-10” more
  21. iOS is the Apple operating system as opposed to Android.
