    66 here as of 4:07 and was as high as 72.7 around noon which is the first 70+ of the year here. Sun making a big difference. Cools off fast with cloudy skies and a SW wind off the water Looks like a front is slicing through Long Island right now from NW to SE, can see it well on OKX radar along with some showers. Perhaps a change in wind direction could send temps soaring into the 70's here again. 49 in East Hampton right now.... yikes

    Reported highs so far: DCA 88 IAD 86 BWI 86 Earlier, LWX's discussion said the highs (all set in 1978) had been 88/85/88.

    And yes, that may very well be, but sometimes around here, an isolated severe threat, is the best severe threat if your interested in watching and experiencing an intense storm.

    My 7th 80 of the year? something like that? Maybe it's number of 76+. Either way, we had a glacier of snow for a month 6 weeks ago. Nice contrast!

    The more juicy parameters, are hugging, the mason dixon line, and have been struggling to advect north and west throughout the day. That said, I think storm motions could help bring some of that better instability into our area and it feels to me like we should be building some of our own homegrown instability as I write this. That said we we're slightly capped at last glance. With a forcing mechanism so close, I don't think that cap means much. In fact, it may be more a facilitator then a hindrance for severe activity, but I'm still too new at this to speak with much confidence. Edit I meant to say advect north and east, not north and west.

    Brief shower knocked it down to 68 here. Models don't have much rain later now.

    oh, interesting. Yeah that is cool when that happens. I'm not in the BD aspect - yet.. but it's in the mail. We're synoptically cooling the last 3 hours or so here, but it's reasonable at the moment.     Hmmm, some boundaries appear to be draped W-E across Reston. Other boundaries are from the Potomac moving west. Could see something interesting things happen.

    Bring the 50s with lows in 30s next week and fair weather. Early Spring should feel more like Fall. Too soon for 80s.

    not liking this weather i actually had to wear my hoodie opened today it was 70 when i went out this morning that is the normal low for the end of july.i saw many people wearing just shirts..
