Kinda neat seeing the sun set behind the high sirrus tops of those storms in CT. -
Of course storms die overhead and blow up to my east. Crazy light show

1.15" in Sparta. The skies were majestic, but I didn't witness anything too severe. The wind did kick up at the NJ state fair and made it exciting for a few minutes. There were a few CTG strikes around the area, but then it mostly ended up being a heavy rain event after that with some remaining thunder around. I'm seeing some breaks in the clouds now off in the distance.

Nothing to worry about -
Best lightning in years!

Hoping to miss out on this one. As much as I love a good thunderstorm, really don’t want the rain and especially any wind. Definitely don’t want hail!! Radar looking like wagons south.
-
Tame here. 0.28”. A few claps of thunder and winds to 30.
-
Impressive compared to your usual.

you are welcome

Central PA Summer 2026 Discussion/Obs Thread
ChescoWx replied to Voyager's topic in Upstate New York/Pennsylvania
I saw on the news one of the local weather folks mentioning we are about to see our 6th "Heatwave" which is a stat that defines a Heatwave of at least 3 consecutive days over 90 degrees. While the news always just sources the Philadelphia International Airport....out here where we live in Chester County only 1 station at Phoenixville has reported even 3 heatwaves this summer with all other stations only 1 or 2 "Heatwaves". As you can see below the frequency of heat waves here in Chester County has in reality been decreasing over the last 14 decades as the below chart which is normalized "per 100 station-years" because the number of active stations has grown sharply over time clearly shows. -
