GaWx Posted August 8 Share Posted August 8 Due to an inverted trough, heavy showers are occurring in the area moving from off the ocean including here. Rain started just after 8AM. Yeah I Got a few drops last evening when that storm over Durham looked so powerful and I Was like great we will get some rain, but just enough to dampen the road here. Not that it would have amounted to much, with it being a thin line and fast moving, but the quadrant of the RAH CWA from Raleigh, east to me, and north, cannot get jack doodly to fire for the past week. Yeah, there is no mesoscale focus and we're too far east for the piedmont trough cells to hit us and we're too far north for the sea breeze front. GaWx Posted 12 hours ago Share Posted 12 hours ago After an official airport high of an awful 97, I was on the road in the middle of a full-fledged severe thunderstorm in the SW SAV metro area along and near US-17 and GA 204 ~6-6:15PM. It was about the most ferocious storm I’ve experienced so far this summer with high winds, some of the worst CTG lightning I’ve seen this summer, and blinding torrential rain. It was a doozy with Ma Nature showing off her wild side. There were some fallen trees nearby per reports. When I got home it was raining heavily though nothing like what I saw earlier. Obviously there was nothing on the ground anyone could notice but fun to see just how far from totality the partial phases extend.
