Watered the front yard where it has most slope but it is very squishy in the lower flat spots from yesterdays event so skipped watering most of the yard. Looking at the rainfall map combined with the rain the day before it looks like part of the falls lake watershed has seen 4”+ over last two days. The lake has remained mostly steady longer term with minimal drops over the past 2 weeks after being in a free fall

We're in the Falls watershed near Laurel Creek (a couple of miles SW of the NC50/NC98 intersection) so we drain into Falls Lake.

We had  4.6" for the month of June.

July was dry until yesterday, when we were pretty close to the bullseye. Most radar returns looked  close to 1.9" for this area, my rain gauge was actually at 2.1"

It's strange to see things greening up  in the landscape around here when  Falls Lake  looks like  it did back when they were building the dam.

Not quite the bullseye this storm, we received an additional 1.5" mostly overnight last night.

Total July to date : 3.6"

Not too shabby but Falls River (err, Falls Lake) has a long way to go.

Yall have had the most rain in the central part of NC and even though it’s been somewhat isolated it’s thankfully falling into the watershed. The lake would be probably close to a foot lower if not for the lucky bullseyes that have kept it in check overall the last 3 weeks

Yep, we've been lucky this June/July.  Odd, cause in the past this is one of the areas where the storms would seem to skirt around us.

One TS from a broken line just brought me approaching 1/2” over the last ~30 minutes with it lightening up now. This is the first measurable rain so far this month for where I live as the big Tybee TS that I experienced late Sunday afternoon missed my home to the E. Yesterday, it appeared I was going to get decent rain but it fell apart before I could get anything more than a T.

A two-day total of 2.06 inches. Getting that much rain without a tropical system is always welcome.  Lots of CTG lightning and loud Thunder too. Lasted longer last night though. Im glad to have gotten this which the grass and trees, plants were thrilled.

This was a shot from the employee lot at work as the storms were moving into Eastern Durham/Western Wake Counties

Maybe in your area...very little here

I was joking but yea your half of the county cannot catch a break. I was right there with you until the last two days though. The best news though is the heaviest rain just keeps targeting the falls lake watershed over and over again. It has come up over 6 inches over last two days which is a ton of water added to the reservoir and completely offset all losses from the heatwave and most of the last month

I imagine we should see at least some of the D4 drop to D3 tomorrow.

Would think so. Aligns with what I saw and that is a serious swath of two day non-tropical rainfall for July! You cannot ask for more in the areas that got it but man SE Wake just cannot get lucky that's some forcefield type stuff going on down there

This is as much about the high dewpoints (in or near upper 70s) as it is about the heat, itself (mid to upper 90s):

EXTREME HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 7 PM EDT THIS EVENING
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values 112 to 116
possible.

* WHERE...Coastal southeast Georgia and southeast South Carolina.

* WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 7 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
