While this one was impossible to measure, I'm coming up with best guess of 4-6" (Brentwood). People in an around the town are posting stuff like 8-12" which is just laughably measuring drifts. 

Anyways, while it always sucks to not cash in during such a big storm, still enjoying the pictures. Congrats to all those waking up to some epic snow piles this morning.

This looks much worse than Jan 22 here, despite my complaining about being just east of the 3ft band. Gotta be at least 20"..drifts are gigantic. Unfortunately I can't measure

Any reports of coastal damage etc.  I did see wind damage to power poles on ACK and random tree stuff.

@The 4 Seasons going with 21" for my spot at Lava Lake (59.5" for the season so far, and above climo).  Best I could do, combining what I saw at 8am combined with some of the totals I see noted in the public info statement.

Oh, and that 36mph high wind recorded at Danielson Airport (which is less than 5 miles away)... there's no way that I didn't get gusts off the lake of at least 45-50mph.

Plymouth and Taunton not on list of locations where Blizzard criteria met. Guaranteed both those locations met but the stations crapped out on the reporting data.

Who was it that drove around the cape a bunch of years ago to "debunk" the high totals?  I think they were totals from Phil, and maybe it was Messenger(RIP) who took the ride.  He pretty much just drove along route 6 and got out of the car every few miles and took a spot measure off the shoulder.

Precip ID or the vis too?

I can’t recall many times seeing the vis sensor fail.

It was easier to meet criteria before ASOS because human observers had no problem reporting 0sm, 1/16sm, and 1/8sm. ASOS rarely reports M1/4sm and there’s the 5 min obs and SPECIs that catch brief lulls down to 1/2sm.

Wind is difficult too, but allowing frequent gusts over 30kt helps.

That’s rare now too because they have heated ultrasonics. I believe the old cup ones were heated as well. But there were some cases of bad readings yesterday where the snow and wind was so heavy it was probably trying to cake up on the transducers faster than it could melt.

Yup…wind failed at TAN. Interesting. Still they had a stretch with frequent gusts over 40 before it crapped out. 1045-1252z…lame. I’d count it.

Some photos from last night.  Adirondack chairs, still uncomfortable, and useless.  Note the deck and the lack of snow. Wind just came off the lake and probably blew it all to Providence.

Well wet snow initially and winds over 70.

Winds were easily 50mph at TAN.

My snow was only wet for a few hours and then when the real heavy stuff came it was below 32. I actually think it helped make it accumulate more. Areas to my south were getting 3”/hr near 32.
