In terms of a QPF underperformance, RAH predicted the triangle to get 1.25-1.50” QPF up until go time basically. RDU recorded 0.50” for the entire event

The was the craziest winter storm I have witnessed in my 35 years in the upstate.    If you would have told me that we would have a winter storm roll through and drop 1 inch of precipitation with the temperatures between 25F and 30F for the duration, I could imagine multiple scenarios from 12 inches of snow to over a 1/2 inch of crippling ice to over 3 inches of sleet.   What we did end up with was maybe an inch of sleet with a very minimal glaze of ice to end it.

This set up is exactly what I have been waiting on for years.   Definitely underperformed but I am thankful we did not see the ice they were calling for a la Nashville or Mississippi.

Front came through and NW wind got gusty. DP dropped from 32.7 to 28.1. Temp sitting at 33.1 wonder if it falls back below freezing for a bit

Anyone see official storm totals? I’m estimating maybe 3/4” sleet and 0.15” ZR here but that’s up for debate. Could’ve been less

RDU reported .28 ZR which is totally bogus. I had less than a tenth.

.28 ZR and .28 inches of ice accumulation are very different.

if .28 inches of liquid precip fell while the temperature was at or below 32, that's .28" of ZR.

I'm late with the obs...fell asleep early in the easy chair last night and didn't make it back to the laptop.    We had sideways rain with some lightning along several rounds of booming thunder in the 8-10pm timeframe last night when that final line came through...temps were right around 40 at the time.

As anticipated, we had only rain right here on the coast throughout the entire storm, even though we were under a WWA the whole time. Rain off/on through the night and last of it moved off the coast around 9am today...currently 42, and the sun finally appeared just within the last 30 min.

Concur with many of the already shared reactions...this was quite an interesting storm to track and watch. Enjoyed reading the obs and esp seeing the posted pics...thx, all.

We lucked out in CLT and it was mostly sleet and a little freezing rain at the end. Managed to keep my power throughout the whole thing and its melting now. I’m pretty thankful it was only that.

I got lucky, the ice here in Greenville, NC melted overnight and I managed to complete my cataract surgery this morning. Still woozy and blurry but hoping vision improves in a few hours. Best wishes your surgery goes well.
