You dont even live here in winter. You essentially hate winter. This storm was a great storm for the central ohio crew but it was short of 20" so if it was here you'd be complaining. I know, because you had many critiques when Detroit had a 16.7" storm in 2015.

Its also ok to live in a state known for winter and to enjoy winter without being lectured from someone who does not reside in winter and does not like winter.

And as I get older I use the snowblower more and more. Love shoveling but only when its not too heavy. My piles are no more special than others anymore.

Who's starting the LES thread? Looking solid again for a noteworthy event in IL-IN-probably SW MI (may include SE WI as well depending on boundary layer convergence orientation).

Since you’re just looking to experience a big dog, why not travel to where there is one instead of hoping one hits Detroit?

Yeah. I mean most posters here enjoy summer outside of thunderstorms, so why does is it surprise people that someone likes winter outside of big snowstorms.

Not to mention, we get plenty of big snowstorms. He is talking 20"+. Which any amount of data you can find will tell you that it is EXTREMELY rare in this region.

Dubuque, Moline, Cedar Rapids, Rockford, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Dayton, LaCrosse, Bismark, Peoria, Springfield, St Louis, Madison - not a single 20" storm in their climate record.

False. I don't mind winter. I hate what y'all are about to go through weeks of tundra and flurries. Enjoy it. Its gonna be funny when a storm rolls along in a few weeks and you're battling precip issues, after weeks of below avg cold.

You will never see me complaining about a double digit snow. You will see me complain about a storm that just occurred. 20 hours to get 5 inches when it took others 5 hours. 

Also not lecturing, just stating big dogs happen often, all around us, regardless of your old repetitive climo explanation.

I've experienced several as my job used to require me to travel. You think I'd be wasting my time arguing with the wall (josh) if all I wanted was to experience one in general? I want so much snow here it knocks out power in wyandotte and I can go a few days without Josh's turd polishing glass half full climo bs.

So now I have all the clues ... YYZ snow depth increased 41 cm from their measured 46 cm fall. Toronto City snow depth increased 46 cm (13 to 59) from the unknown but anecdotally supported 61 cm. An exact 1:1 ratio with YYZ differentials assuming same depression of existing snow pack suggests 52 cm of snow fell downtown.

So it's 52 to 61 giving a liquid equivalent of 20.8 mm. Will think about it as to the exact number I will plug into my updated Toronto City stats but any way one cuts it, a new record 24h calendar day amount. Looks like 0.1" or 0.2 cm of snow to add on 26th for two day total of somewhere between 21 and 24 inches. I will probably go with the 61 cm since it seems like it may have been a tweet from somebody associated with the site, or, they measured very close to the site. 

Quite a notable record given the 183 years of snowfall data at the location, the higher end is also the highest 2-day total even without adding 0.1". 61 cm in exact conversion would be 61/2.54 = 24.0" .. 62 cm gets to 24.3" ... this is greater than the 23.0" from Dec 25-26, 1872 (another frigid east wind enhancement event apparently).

I think my place got 6.5" after doing a bit more measuring and shoveling Monday. Today, a snow squall formed between me and Cleveland. That brought briefly very bad conditions over by Cleveland. The third image posted may not be representing the snowfall values between Columbus and Toledo the best. I think my brother and sister got 9". They're in different places.

Lmao you complained about double digit snowstorms all the time back in the 2000s/10s. You did in 2014, even with 2 feet on the ground because with all the storms we had no individual fall was over 12". The very next year, when Detroit got nearly 17" of snow on Feb 1/2, 2015 you found plenty of critique saying it was boring and took 24 hours to achieve (despite hours of visibility below 1/4 mile). Our last double digit storm (Feb 2021) you dont remember (even though you were in FL) so I guess it didnt happen. In fact you ghost this board all year except in winter when youre in FL so you can troll/repeat how no 20" storms are hitting SE MI.

Me posting how many 20"+ storms in every first order station in the entire non-lake belt midwest is not "bs", its actual weather data.

And how extremely lucky that you've experienced several! Your job just happened to place you in a town the exact day a 20" storm hit. That's lotto lucky.

As for the tundra. Theres deep snow in place and mountains of snow everywhere, so i dont mind it in the least. Perfect for winter rec.

We did have 2 shots at 20” that come to mind. 1 was in April 2005. If it happened three weeks sooner, we would’ve had 20 to 30 inches of snow but of course it happened on the last week of April that year still had 16 inches but it only collected at night. The other. The other was a perfect set up. It happened in February 2013. We had almost 2 inches of QPF temperatures around 30 to 32° for most of the event ratios were between three and four to one. Ended up with 5-6” of the wettest snow ever.

I really come to AmWx for the entertainment value! @Stevo6899 shouldn't be faulted for wanting to see a 20+ Big Dog, but to look in the corner of Michigan least likely to get one is the odd part. Much of the balance of The Mitt has had several, but its usually not widespread, just a localized area. 30+ even more so falls into that camp. 

I was there for '67 with 23" and drifts to roof tops. Only problem was my age (two yrs) so can't remember a single flake, lol. Been fortunate to see (4) 18" Big Dogs at my addresses but I'm also still hoping for that unicorn 20+ hit for mby. Kzoo hit 20" in GHD-2, SWMI scored 20+ in the PV Bliz of '14 and Jan '99 Bliz. PHN is Port Huron. Which is in SE MI, northeast of Detroit. 

He is not faulted for wanting a 20" storm. He is faulted for his repeated schtick of coming to the board during winter only, a time he does not reside in MI, mostly to stir his repetitious pot that everyone gets 20" storms but here, say weather/climate stats proving that wrong are bs, etc. Me, someone who loves snow and lives in a place where it snows all the time but said snow doesn't come 20" in 1 day, being his main target. 

And really, the era of '65-'85 did have one massive storm here (Dec 1, 1974, 19.3") but the era of 1999-2015 had far more double digit storms in SE MI than 1965-85.

Feb 1, 2015 essentially felt like a 20" storm at DTW. 3" on the ground to start, then nearly 17" more in 24 hrs.
