I mean, you guys are sitting in warm climates from afar, youre not even here. Yeah it sucks that were missing the brunt of a massive storm. But some of the whining about the east coast lol. Theyve literally been in a decade long record snow drought, let em get a climo storm for once. It was bound to happen.

I don't care about the east coast anymore. They got the ocean to help aid storms. It sucks they out big dog us but I'm so used to it by now it doesn't bother me like it used to. It helps I'm in a warmer climate for sure. That useless cold for the next week is gross.

Today and tomorrow is dangerous stay inside cold. But the rest of the week i will be in my glory. Deep powder and frigid winter air. Will absolutely be bundling up and taking some scenic walks.

Sit inside and watch the shit show unfold. Gonna be pretty frozen there for a few days for people who can NOT handle it.

I just take solace knowing that y'all suffer the opposite way when there's an unusual summer heatwave...:kekw:

I guess I cant even fathom a comparison, because I know that under no circumstances would I EVER live in TX...but what a slap in the face how prone to ice they are in deep winter cold shots. Its like, you finally get DEEP winter cold with surface temps that scream powder but you get stuck with freezing rain and sleet.

I was holding out hope that the euro was going to be right, but every run erodes more and more of the northern edge. GFS took it to the woodshed on that aspect. Final call for myby is mood flakes through dim sun. Great start to this winter, but it went kapoot after that. Can’t end soon enough.

Regardless, good luck to those to the east and south. Hope it over performs. :)

I tend to follow certain markers. If it's snowing hard in Evansville it's not snowing much here. If the SLP track is taking the little Egypt route I'm in business. Chicago seems more in play with these southern systems since you'll get this LES signal to show up fluffing up totals. Sometimes comes to fruition; a lot of times doesn't. I always figure qpf is overdone on the margins and will erode away as event nears provided there's no consensual shift of the models NW

In modern times, 1988, 1995, 2011 and the first 2/3rds of 2012 would compare...

It was weird. Last night I was driving home and it was still 70 out. I had the windows down and it felt chilly. Im like wtf is happening. Normally even if its 50 im still warm down here. Im turning into a true Floridian. I think toledo may jackpot with this. They will be near the heavier precip and may max out with the ratios.

I lived in Austin for a year. Its like anywhere else, it can get cold but wait a few days and it's back to normal. I would never live anywhere further north in texas.

Yep. Your body acclimates to the warm climate after so long with your blood thinning.

I'll wear sweatpants even when it's in the 80s now, and will be freezing to death when it's in the 50s.

Trending the way it has today sucks, I guess its turning into another boring 2-4 maybe 3-6.

RGEM has been consistent on the Detroit area getting at least 6”. It does suck to see the 12z NAM basically cut totals in half compared to yesterday’s 12z run. Hoping the bleeding at least stops for now.

tx powergrid watch 2026

all fun and games until you lose power and it's 9 outside

I was living in Fort Worth, TX for the 2021 storm.  They had planned "rolling blackouts" to conserve the grid.  First rolling blackout came at about 3am, there was nothing rolling about it. It was off for 12 hours, came back on long enough to get the house warmed up a little, and then go out again.  I don't wish prolonged power outages on anyone.

Yeah. Not happy about the totals being cut. But again. The Detroit area has 4-7" of packed powder base, so add several inches and more powdery snowbanks...deep deep winter. And before the storm hounds freak, a week ago this was going no further north than KY. we've always been on the northern flank with the question, how north will it go?

This winter definitely has the markings of one that would make you happy but leave others wanting more.

No big storms and possibly not even a Winter Storm headline for Wayne County, but constannt cold, almost daily flurries or nickel/dime events and increasingly deep snowcover.

I was hoping for at least 12” of snow depth by the end of this which is still possible but looked more likely this time yesterday. But yeah still glad to be getting some snow from this as it was looking like a complete miss south last week, some people it’s just all or nothing.

The posters just wishing for a big storm still have lots of time left. It’s only January.
