Man... This could be over now  It did get lighter for a little while but then ramped right back up about an hour ago. Now it's pounding small flakes, drilling into everything, on a stiff NE wind. At least the visibility is better because the flakes are so small. Pretty much the only engine sounds are snowblowers, chainsaws and quads and only one plow guy has been down my street all day. I stepped a few feet into the front yard and went in up to my crotch. There's a lot of snow out there.

My snowblower is on its absolute last leg. Leaking oil from a few spots, now only 1 damn tire spins so its even harder to control, and it takes forever to warm up enough to not die when i release the choke. Had a nice run, made it through this storm. Heres to home depot deals in march lol

Honestly could have. This wasnt nearly as heavy as i was expecting. Bottom few inches were very moisture laden but the rest was very fluffy.

Snowblower? Mine looks suspiciously like a shovel. It never leaks, it's lightweight and easy to handle so if I twist and flick just right it has a pretty good throw distance. If I twist wrong the shear pin still breaks though.

I have a Ariens 24”. It works great! I keep up with the maintenance on it and use fuel stabilizer. I use the Sno-Jet spray to prevent snow and ice accumulation in the auger and discharge shoot and it really helps when there’s a wet/shulshy snowfall.

There's a bunch of 18-19s east of me but they missed the best of the def zone dump that sat over me for hours. This one has bigger drifts than the one last month but, because it's so much warmer, compacted and condensed quickly. Did I break 20? Probably but there's no place on my property that wasn't badly wind affected so I'll never really know.

I think my back has aged out of fully appreciating 2 blockbusters in a month :oldman:

My snowfall is now slightly above normal for the season. I noticed last week that for the first time, possibly ever, my running snowfall average (41.2") is now below what is considered KMGJs (42.2"). The past few years has really been eating into my seasonal average snowfall. So as it stands now, this seasons 44.5" here is the most since '20-'21s 53.8".

Where do you get the Montgomery airport snowfalls totals from? I thought like Poughkeepsie, which stopped measuring a few decades ago for good reason, that Montgomery doesn't measure snow.

Let me know if you have the link, thanks.

KMGJ doesn't measure snow. I believe someone came up with an average based on old COOP data by the Crist brothers in Walden best I could tell. I'll have to think on how I came across anything to use for KMGJ, it might have actually been Accuweather. Whatever it was it appeared to update with the new 10 year averages a few years ago as I recall and is broken down by month. While I always took that number with a grain of salt I was impressed with how close it was/is to my running averages. If/when I figured it out again I'll reply here.

@CPcantmeasuresnowI'm looking around a bit now, it might have been part of the NWS NOWdata under Montgomery but its not there now. I remember when I came across it I was surprised and again took it with a grain of salt. I must have found it a few years ago again because I just came across this little spreadsheet I did 10 years ago that shows the 30 year average (KMGJ)which was higher than it is now, 43.3" then and 42.2" now. The 10 year averages were my own measurments.
