It’s almost certain they are gonna get skunked with taint Well, that's what they get for residing south. Personally, not to be a d%^^k, but I need the snow to reach up to north central VT so tainting SNJ would be fine for me.

It's prone to change to sleet here earlier than further west and stay crystally as that IVT they mention in the discussion gets it's act together. Hopefully it doesn’t push in this far. Unfortunately this will come down to nowcasting time.

IrishRob17
I know I’ve said this before when a bigger storm was heading our way, where the hell do all this weenies come from? It’s quite evident many don’t really pay attention to the weather, just big snowstorms. Many would benefit from paying attention year round and learning things. 3

BGM says “hold your horses” and may even get sleet to me. weirdly sleet might be beneficial to some degree. Encases the 8-12+ that would still happen first and make it practically bulletproof. Given the persistent cold that’s ahead this pack will not go anywhere. on the other hand, sleet at…checks notes…10f? is always baffling when it happens 1

IrishRob17
In years like this, snowfall on top of snowpack, I'm reminded of what my grandmother said during her 15 or so years living in central New Hampshire, "Mother Nature doesn't like dirty snow."

Hitman
Fwiw- I’m roughly 250 miles north of croton and this cold airmass is the real deal. Forecast low tonight is minus 11, high tomorrow +3 and low tomorrow night of minus 10.

CPcantmeasuresnow
4 degrees. If the over under line for Orange County was 15 inches, using Goshen as the measuring spot, which is close to the geographic middle of the county, do you take the over or under? I would take the over but I think it's close.

As I agree = I mean which model can we trust as the sleet might stop at Monmouth county or farther south or it might be by us or in Poughkeepsie ? gravitylover
Temps range from 1° at the highest spots on my hill, up to 6° down at the bottom on the Croton River 4 miles away. Strange that there's no inversion this morning considering there's no wind. Man, it bugs me going into a storm so cold and knowing it's gonna get warm upstairs. That heavy, ball bearing shit sux to shovel but it's not as bad as an inch of slush under 6" of paste.
gravitylover
Sun's up and so is the wind. Lol. Temps are leveling out quickly now between 4-6°. edit: stabilized at 3-4°
hudsonvalley21
Currently 9/-10. Shot out a question to DonSoutherland regarding start times tomorrow with the cold dry air in place. It might take a little more time for the snow to reach the surface to what the models are showing. It depends on when the column saturates enough. Don agreed that it is possible. it has happened before, so we’ll see how it unfolds.
