Carvers Gap
The 12z gfs is trying to make me feel like I live in the Sierra Nevada. 49" for TRI on that run? AIFS less but still noteworthy.

I guess we'll see what manner of a rug pull happens if and when the rug gets laid down. Will it be a rug yanker? A flopper? A shredder? An incineration? Holston_River_Rambler
It is interesting that a lot of the models were keen on a storm around the 28th until this weekend's behemoth began to coalesce. Maybe it pushed the signal back a bit? Maybe the pattern is just conducive for chances?

However, knowing our luck, it will keep getting further surpressed!

John1122
The Canadian is a beast too, but of course most of the forum area is missed. so we sit in a light snow/snow hole while there's 12+ inch totals to our north, south, east and west. 1
jaxjagman
+VE PNA and AO dropping almost 4 sigma BN,will it get cold?...LOL.What you'd really like to see is a more +ve NAO,this would shift the trough axis further west it would seem anyways
Holston_River_Rambler
Strangely enough the 12z EPS actually favors the period after the big storm on the GFS and CMC. Maybe not tha tstrange since the Euro didn't have it, but maybe there's a "split the difference" reality in there. Elizabethton as just an example

Yep. Exactly what we've been fearing might be the Case. Not Debbie downing but so far looking like one of those Winter's. They cause alot of angst for Snow lover's. Hopefully things work out for the better for us.
Reb
GFS still has it at 162. Let’s see how she handles from there

Carvers Gap
With the 18z gfs bringing in bitterly cold air at 138...it has light, almost certainly high ratio snow with it. I have to think we score with that front.

Remember the days when we used to trend a storm from South Carolina into E TN. Jed33
Ha! On that run the gfs is like I’ll put a lakes low up there but I’ll also make it so cold over the TN Valley that it will produce enough cold for the gulf coast to have its own snow storm! Ridiculous!

I miss the days of the days of the dependable northwest jog. Now, we gotta listen to BamWx calling in our system from Columbus. Good call by him, but doesn't mean I have to like it. Haha.

Yeah, man. Something has to give there. I do like snow for Thursday though. Maybe we can get some thunder on Sunday! Funny...not funny.
Carvers Gap
Awesome! We now have TWO hot threads. Best subforum on AmWx, but I am biased. I do like our SE folks though! @beavis1729, what is your forecast in Illinois?
Carvers Gap
TRI is at +2.2 for the month. Unless something changes, we should easily finish BN or January. After Sunday, my point and click temps don't go above freezing until Friday when he forecast ends.

I do like our SE folks though! @beavis1729, what is your forecast in Illinois? Cold and dry, maybe a few flurries over the weekend on the northern edge of the big storm. Dropped to -12 with WC around -30 this morning, and only made it up to -5 this afternoon after a midnight high around 0. A beautiful sunny day! Not much snow cover, but enough to cover the ground fully in the neighborhoods.

I just looked it up, and probably should have known that since you post here some. I know now! Yeah, that is cold! For some reason I thought you were in central Illinois. It makes sense now why you were mentioning bare ground during December.
