Tyler Penland
Looking at the 3km NAM tonight, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see thunder snow in that band on Wednesday evening. Looks stout at the very least.

Maggie Valley Steve
Currently 30. I had a trace. Keep adding to those seasonal totals!
gopack42
When I left my place yesterday at noon, we had 6.5-7" my car to clear off. Not sure what fell at the house after that since I've not been home since then. I went to a friend's house in Newland after getting back from JC and I ended up staying the night because the back roads were a mess. Wonder how much flow snow we get later in the week?

Hvward
12z NAM 3km is showing a hell of a Northwest flow tomorrow night. Winds gusting over 40mph for most and temps in the mid 20’s. That’s a good recipe for snow showers to break containment and make it even into the valleys.
Hvward
18z NAM 3km smokes the high elevations. As I said before this is also a good solution for getting those flakes into the valleys. 30mph winds and temps in the mid 20’s allow those flakes to push out much farther from the higher elevations.

Most won’t appreciate how anomalous of a signal it is to see accumulation outputs on models for the South Mountains and Brushy’s. 5

eyewall
The question for me is would it be worthwhile to come up very early Thursday morning for this upslope event? The one drawback is the strong wind gusts.

Biggest concern would be getting here before 8 or 9 as blizzard conditions will set in.

I could Google it, but what's the criteria for actual blizzard conditions. I'm up in Avery. Don't know if I've ever been in an actual blizzard lol

Don't know if I've ever been in an actual blizzard lolOfficially, the National Weather Service defines a blizzard as a storm which contains large amounts of snow OR blowing snow, with winds in excess of 35 mph and visibilities of less than 1/4 mile for an extended period of time (at least 3 hours).https://www.weather.gov/fgz/WinterStormsSent from my Pixel 10 Pro using Tapatalk
