canderson
Scenes from Texas are horrific. My wife is friends (well acquaintances) with one whose child is missing. If you look at radar loops it never moved for 8 hours. 10” rain in an hour.

anotherman
You’re saying it averaged 10” of rain for those 8 hours? 80 inches?

Oh sorry no I mean it moved so slow that was the rate. Lake Travis went up 10’ in 2 hours this am.

canderson
I am hearing the death toll might be north of 200 in Texas. The river rose 30 feet in less than an hour - rising 1” every six seconds for a period of time.

pawatch Posted yesterday at 10:13 AM Share Posted yesterday at 10:13 AM 68 degrees with a high of 91 degrees today. Prayers for everyone in Texas.
ChescoWx Posted yesterday at 01:46 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:46 PM After the last 2 days with below normal temperatures we will see increasingly warm and humid weather today and through much of next week. Today looks like it is the only day that should stay dry. Rain chances will continue all week. The best chances of heavy rain look to be Monday into the evening. Wednesday looks to be the relatively driest day. Today should be our warmest day of the week with lower elevation spots across the county possibly touching 90 degrees while ridge locales will likely only reach the upper 80's. Voyager Posted yesterday at 05:06 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 05:06 PM Are there any wildfires going on in PA? We've got a Phoenix AZ type brown haze here in Tamaqua and the air has a bit of a smoky smell.

More likely from Canada.
ChescoWx
The NWS has issued a flood watch for today and a heat advisory for tomorrow. There is a growing threat of flash flooding for some spots across the area. Forecast models have been a bit inconsistent on exactly where these will be so will be keeping an eye on those radars. We should remain warm and humid all week with the hottest day being tomorrow where some lower elevation spots may touch the low 90's. Ridge locations will likely fall just short of 90. We turn a bit cooler but still humid by the end of the week with temperatures a few degrees below normal during the afternoons but a few degrees above normal at night. Mount Joy Snowman
Getting back into the swing of things here after a splendid 4th of July weekend. Low of only 73, as humidity seems to be the name of the game this week. We've actually had some decent showers going here for most of the morning. It will be interesting to see who gets the big rain totals this week.

It's overcast out and I'm still sweating profusely just sitting in a chair outside.

There is a flood warning just east of Lancaster County in places like Atglen, Parkesburg and Cochranville.

It was a very narrow band that just kind of hovered over our area with a nice soaking rainfall to the tune of a couple tenths. An odd little feature, indeed. Hey, do you recall how I mentioned that our house may have been struck by lightning last week, or at least it hit VERY close? Well, sure enough it fried our garage door opener, so we definitely had some sort of surge run through the house. Turns out the older models like we had didn't have internal GFIs, whereas the newer ones do. Just had ours replaced this morning.

To this day I get very nervous during bad electrical storms. What happened at your place is exactly what scares me.
