Voyager Posted yesterday at 06:36 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 06:36 PM Actually, it looks like a storm is trying to form right over the house, and I hear a few drops hitting the patio roof. Thing is, forming storms usually mature south and east of me, and I'm left relatively "high and dry"....

Volatile as hell out there, but the storms are up in Scranton (again) and down along I-78 from Allentown to Hamburg. Same old same old. Wash, rinse, repeat.. Voyager
Here's the latest one forming right at the edge of Tamaqua that will roll south to Allentown again... As I've been saying for awhile now. If I like or want it, I can't have it, but if I hate it, I can have it in abundance. And that goes for everything, not just storms.

ChescoWx
Those spots that reached 90 yesterday will see the current "heat wave" end at 4 days with today's temperatures remaining in the 70's. The one exception is our own personal heat island airport at KMQS Brandywine which saw 5 such days including the highest recorded temperature at 100.3 degrees on the 24th. No other station got within 3 degrees of that mark with the next closest being the West Chester MADIS station at 97.3. Of note 4 stations only saw 3 consecutive days exceeding 90 degrees those being Devault, Warwick Township, West Grove and East Nantmeal. For a couple of stations this was their 1st heat wave in at least several years. At West Grove this was their first such occurrence since 2018 and at East Nantmeal since 2020. ChescoWx
Rainfall amounts were pretty variable last night across Chester County. We saw as much as 2.35" at Nottingham and 2.17" at Atglen to as little as 0.17" at Devault. It’s much cooler today with temperatures in the low 70's. Across the higher spots of the County we may not see another 90-degree reading until the middle of July. Rain chances to ramp up a bit again tonight and again on Saturday night. We warm up to the upper 80's on Sunday before we see temperatures near normal in the mid 80's for much of the next week.
Itstrainingtime
64 lovely degrees this morning which ironically I believe is a touch above normal. Regardless, it feels SO much better outside! .35" of rain yesterday and one large tree lost during the storm. Cleanup commences today.

Was a little lax of late as I just got back yesterday PM from an England/Ireland Trip...a little cooler over there!! The actual departure from normal for me were actually a bit higher at + 13.0 / +13.4 and +9.9 respectively!

That's a heck of an area of rain over the central part of the county considering there was NO rain in the forecast today until a slight chance after 12pm. Edit: CTP just added in a 30% chance for this morning. (once the cells had already formed)
canderson
I thought it was raining this morning - turns out it was just the city flushing the fire hydrant across the street. Saturday afternoon/early evening look like a decent chance of rain at least.
