Root for that squall to hold together so some areas get their first trace for February.

I was hoping it wouldn't. We came this far, lets just get the record..reminds me of the late March snowfall in 1998, preventing it from least snowest season ever. March sun made quick work of those 5" too. I saw some flurries while in New Rochelle today. First snowflake I've seen this month anywhere Ive been. Took a leap yr to squeeze out a flake.

Even during our 50 degree December 2015, we found a way to get a T near the end of the month. So it shows how difficult it would be to go a whole winter without at least a T. Philly finished 72-73 with just a T.

The 7th warmest February on record in New York City is concluding. Despite sunshine, the high temperature was 35°. Temperatures will fall well into the 20s tonight.

Outside, the general warmth has produced even more blossoms at the New York Botanical Garden:

I'm pretty sure, here in NW NJ, we didn't get a tick above 30 all month. It was painfully cold.

During that month, the Long Island Sound became almost entirely frozen. A photo from Rye, NY (2/21/2015):

Great picture! Yeah, I’m glad I got to experience a month like that. I remember the snow pack lasted well into March. With are biggest storm of the year happening around March 5th. That pattern was all -epo driven

February 2010 was better. 40 inches here.

And somehow every storm that month managed to be a mixed bag. Lots of sleet which probably helped the snowpack

Yeah we had lots of snow to rain/ice events. We did have a nice fluffy 4-5 inch storm around mid month. The best event was definitely the 8-10 one the start March.

Yeah that was my favorite March storm!  I remember the temp off the ocean was below freezing and we got freezing drizzle off a "sea breeze"- the first time I've ever seen that!

In February I remember seeing snow crystals falling out of a clear blue sky- strange sight!

no snow fell here, 4 miles from JFK.

Leap day is a fake day at the end of February anyway....sure let's just randomly stick a day at the end of the second month of the year just so our calendars dont go out of whack.  I'd rather have the day added at the end of June to make our summer a day longer! :P

Besides T is equivalent to 0 snow anyway.

Imagine if some areas got their first February snow on leap day. Most of the time this would have been March 1st.

the difference between a trace of snow and 0 snow is a distinction without a difference :-P

Besides, leap day is a fake day anyway (see my above post)....I'd rather have the extra day in the summer!
