BxWeatherwatcher
Snow will overspread the area and increase in coverage, def not modeled on any global. But there is some waa in the area also which is prob the reason for snow.

BxWeatherwatcher
If only the low went south of the NYC area instead of north.[/quote Just missed out on this one, although it is actually a tick south then the rest of the models had it by this time. I think we all see a change to snow at the end but no accumulations in the city.

BxWeatherwatcher
Ill take this light snow as a bonus, yesterday i woke up to a nice coating on all surfaces minus roads and sidewaks here in the northern bronx..
BxWeatherwatcher
things look really juicy west of us,and racing towards the coast. some of those heavy cells might actually bring snow in to n.y.c later on before a changeover to rain.obviously the axis of heavier precip is farther south then modeled presently so let's see how interesting it gets here in the city esp northern manhattan and the bronx. BxWeatherwatcher
4 30 ,,Rockland County and not a flake,,,,,,,yet ? dry air chewing it up,but heavier moisture should be moving in shortly.also the low is south and moving ese instead of ene.the blocking is quite strong right now and i don't think most models have this thing right... BxWeatherwatcher
now we see why everything is trending south, look at the low developing along ack??.the blocking is shunting everything ese right now.some would say that n.y.c might be in a good spot here as it pulls away with this setup really not budging the cold air.also heavy snow might be incoming in a few mins here in the city before the rain then back to heavy snow before it ends in my opinion. http://www.weather.unisys.com/surface/sfc_con.php?image=3p&inv=0&t=cur
BxWeatherwatcher
interesting gradient in the city right now.coney island is 42/31f,the bronx by my area is 34/22.moderate precip on our doorstep.

bluewave
Old man winter is laughing in the face of spring as the cold reloads for next weekend with a nice Greenland block setting up. The extremes continue this year as we are talking about 20's in April this week when NYC couldn't even drop below freezing in December.

bluewave
That has a wicked look. And crazy after December indeed. The raging +PDO and record -EPO drop for this time of year set the whole process off. Now the PV diving SE next weekend will pump the block near Greenland and reinforce the high latitude blocking pattern. All that warm water off the West Coast continues to make the weather headlines since the Summer of 2013.
