ski MRG
Yeah TOR confirmed in Windsor... looks like there may be one on the ground in Plainfield too. Windsor is just up the road from me about 15 minutes. Just deafening thunder and some heavy rain here so far.
snowNH
They could be seeing something I'm not. But with a confirmed TOR in the Albany warning from 15 minutes ago and a more impressive radar presentation now I must be missing something. Do you think this stuff will hold as it goes east? CT Rain
Damn, BOX screw up...no way. I wouldn't call it a screw up... there must be a reason why they're not issuing it.
adamrivers
TVS just popped up on GR Level...!?!
free_man
The storm itself looks much weaker, or at least somewhat, than 20 min ago. Relax...not saying one way or the other, but ... here we go with the NWS critics again.

CT Rain
But Ryan...wouldn't you continue you the warning as precaution? Maybe the 7:26 confirmed TOR report from ALY turned out to be incorrect?

CT Rain
Though latest scan seem a bit broader and the reflectivity doesn't look as great.
OKpowdah
But not even a SVR? That doesn't seem right
CT Rain
Maybe. Weather Underground has a tornado vortex signature, not sure how current it is. Just because something has a TVS doesn't mean it's worth a warning. I'm guessing the report out of Albany was suspect.
adamrivers
Maybe. Weather Underground has a tornado vortex signature, not sure how current it is. 7:35-7:49 it showed on the ALB scans - all in different places Latest scan it does look less impressive. adamrivers
BOX issues Severe Tstm for Franklin until 845.... I have a lot of respect for them, but it's a headscratcher how there wasn't a SVR Tstm Warning at least for when that storm crossed the county line
OKpowdah
Just because something has a TVS doesn't mean it's worth a warning. I'm guessing the report out of Albany was suspect. Even if it was suspect, it was a report associated with a decent couplet on radar. It wasn't just random
CT Rain
Even if it was suspect, it was a report associated with a decent couplet on radar. It wasn't just random Well yeah... I don't really get that. Radar support, report of a tornado (enough for the NWS in Albany to report it) the town adjacent to your CWA makes the decision not to go with a warning fairly odd. Not sure what the reasoning was. Not saying their wrong but just curious.
HIPPYVALLEY
Ooooh, nothing like walking in the door from vacation to a severe warning. The sky is really lighting up here right now. Nice long rumbles.
adamrivers
Will be interesting to see what, if any reports come out of Berkshire/Franklin county....that did look pretty decent for a good period. Didn't look great at 7:17 but did from 7:22-7:

free_man
Really? rotation on ALY looks pretty impressive... just as impressive as it did when the tornado report came in at 7:26 I didn't mean a weakening of the couplet but rather the overall radar presentation. The storm appeared on the decline before even entering BOX FA ..I could be wrong. Either way, everything seems to be waning now and we'll have a quiet damage-free night with some spotty showers. Back to microanalysis of every Irene weenie wobble.
