  1. This is WxWatcher007 reporting live from Buffalo, NY, just SW of Cheektowaga. It’s 29° and snowing moderately, and the drive to get here was the most intense of my life.
  2. Just catching up. Congrats @Bob Chill, I wish you and your family the best. An enormous amount of work for sure but when you find someone that brings you peace and joy there’s nothing like pursuing it.
  3. Cold night incoming. Already down to 30.6°.
  4. I wish I averaged 50-60 a year. Given the last four, I’m wondering if I average 30 I asked in the lawn thread, but am I cutting at the lowest setting with the final mow? It’s been work trying to get grass to grow out front and I don’t want to kill it.
  5. Thread time for the mid-week thing? Everyone gun shy after last season?
  6. I’d love to hit the 40s again. I’ve had two of the last four seasons under 30”, one just shy of 45”, and another right at 30”.
  7. How’s everyone doing this fall?
  8. Thanks. I’ve added something like this to my list now. I’ve got 9 trees on or over my backyard and with a fairly steep slope and no place to put the leaves in back this year was brutal.
  9. When I do my final mow, probably this week, do I cut to the lowest setting and mulch the clippings/remaining leaves rather than bag? I’ve made so much progress rebuilding the lawn I don’t want to screw it up.
  10. I think OKC had first flakes yesterday too lol
  11. I miss those maps. I used to love it when Kocin would come on and say “I think we need to take the numbers up for Hartford”. It feels like Region wide obliterations are hard to come by these days.
  12. Nothing like being in tropical. Congrats.
  13. Generally, yes. A subtropical storm almost always has a wind field that is lopsided, with the maximum winds as a result further from the low level center. You could see it very clearly in the early stages of subtropical development of Nicole, as maximum winds and convection were well east. Since then, the wind field has tightened and become more symmetrical, as is necessary for a tropical cyclone—this organization allowed Nicole to become a hurricane. Hope that helps.
