  1. On my PWS we still haven’t made it to single digits this week, but kinda expected that being right by the open Bay. Still very impressed with a 6 day average barely being above 20. .
  2. Hi-Res Nam gets a few hours of light snow for some this evening .
  3. The individual members on the ensemble support this. Still no consensus but seems that any storm that amplifies put us in the game. Even a few that take the low up the Bay .
  4. Solid layer of ice on everything, going to be a beautiful scenery when the sun comes up in the morning .
  5. In a lull now before the back side moves in. Switched over to all freezing rain and temp has started to drop with winds switching to the NW. Between the sleet and now the FR the snowpack is solid as a rock, glad I cleared the driveway before the flip. Would estimate about a .1 of ice build up on trees already .
  6. Temperature really climbing now. Was 21 at 2:40 but up to 27 now. Still mostly sleet but freezing rain is mixing in. Can’t see it falling but everything is beginning to get a glaze. Models had the temp crashing as the backside moves through, hoping that turns back to sleet instead of becoming all freezing rain .
  7. Hrrr trending colder at the surface. Morning runs had along the bay getting above freezing this afternoon but now is not forecast to get above 30. Hoping this means mid levels have trended cooler too and we can fend off freezing rain until the dry slot .
  8. Band south of the beltway means business. Sleet is pounding the windows and have some pixie dust mixing in too now. Visibility is back down to as low as it was this morning during the snow .
  9. Starting to hear some pingers in Chesapeake Beach but still have solid flakes coming down. Wind has really picked up getting gusts up to 20 now, worried what that will do if we flip to freezing rain for an extended time .
  10. Steady light snow most of the afternoon hasn’t accumulated much here in north Calvert. Still enjoying the scenery but thinking of what could’ve been with this storm .
  11. Unfortunately there’s still lots of dry air to be worked out for anything to make it to the surface. Southern MD has been under a band all morning and still no reports of anything making it to the ground. Most short range models have dew points rising by noon, hopefully we can keep returns in the area until then .
  12. We’ve had 30 minutes of moderate snow in Chesapeake Beach and it’s sticking to everything but the roads. Temperature now down to 31.6 .
  13. Closing in on 10” now. Wind is picking up off the water and drifts are beginning to form. Depending on how the evening goes with the ULL this could rival 2016 down this way .
  14. It’s been Nuking down here in Chesapeake Beach since 1:30. Hard to get an accurate measurement with some snow drifts but got between 6-8” already .
  15. I recently moved into his area and I’m feeling pretty good down here. Almost all guidance has us close to 1” of precip and other than the early NAM runs that torched we look to stay mostly snow. I fully expect to mix during the lull but if we can make it through the thump as all snow it’ll be a win for us .
  16. Ended up with just under 2” in Chesapeake Beach .
  17. The run ends as the precip moves in, so totals won’t show anything. Extrapolate the HRRR at your own risk but I do like that it shows the possibility of more than just a quick burst .
  18. Fantasy range 18z HRRR has a healthy precip shield developing over the region at the end of its run. Will be interesting to see if trends continue and we can turn this into a solid precursor event for many .
  19. Best hail we’ve had in at least 5 years. Nothing crazy, mostly just pea sized but enough to coat the deck. .
  20. Yeah you nailed it, could hear the wind up above as the line came through but it didn’t mix down to the surface at all .
  21. Kinda surprised there isn’t at least a special weather statement for this line .
  22. Got a few flakes mixing back in with the freezing rain as this new batch moves in. We were at 2.75” last night before the switch here in southern AA. .
  23. Very impressive front! Temperature dropped from 51 30 minutes ago to 38 now with flurries here in south Anne arundel .
  24. Chances of getting an inch went up dramatically on the Gefs. Shows less of a concern for mixing in the cities too .
