Thankfully looks like the storms weakened a little before hitting Suffolk. They don’t need another drop.

Severe watch up for eastern Suffolk. We’ll see what can survive across the Sound.

From now through Sept even into Oct is the best weather period for us. The heat dies down but still quite comfortable and no back door abominations or frigid cold seabreeze like the spring. The main thing to worry about is the tropics.

It’s the one month that can still be cold for us. The insane W PAC MJO forcing is cold for us then before we’re blasted away with the Pacific jet for the next 4 months. I’m bearish on any kind of snowy winter here again until that goes away or we draw an inside straight somehow like 2020-21.

Looks like the highest official LI total was the 10” in Sound Beach. Somewhere under that stalled T-storm yesterday from St James to Terryville likely ended with 12”. The radar estimate was over 14”.

In any Nina if we don't see something decent in December it almost certainly won't ever happen. We had the Dec 2020 snowy pattern which came back in Feb, Dec 2010 into Jan 2011, Dec 1995... you know, 1/4/18 which came back in March etc but plenty of other Ninas which were lousy in Dec and stayed that way.

Since places there as of this morning were at 9-10", it's a decent possibility. Rt 347 must be a lake.

Between Nesconset and Terryville getting dumped on. Looks like 347 is flooding again. Just unreal. And it’s back building/training. Looks like this is on the seabreeze boundary which usually doesn’t fire up like this but with the amount of water in the air anything will start things up.

Yep, flood advisory up that will likely become another warning soon. That area along 347 and 25A can’t catch any break.

Storms firing up along 25A again near St James, same exact spot that got slammed overnight. Ugggh.

Some areas definitely some issues. Rocky Point looks pretty trashed with a neighborhood that had cars floated away. Mill Pond in Stony Brook washed the road out and damaged homes/parts of Stony Brook University. Just south of you (I assume) by Motor Parkway looked pretty bad. Still standing water on some roads in Centereach. I remember when we had these big floods in Long Beach like in Aug 2011, at least when there’s some elevation the water moves on, when it’s flat the water has to all be pumped out. Glad I missed out, I remember back in Dec last “winter” and Ida the heavy rain all collected and flooded at the bottom of the hill I’m on. Lots of coworkers today with flooded basements they all have to pump out.

Wild scenes on News 12 this morning. In Stony Brook a road looks to have been washed away/collapsed. If lucky about anything at least it wasn’t when a lot of people were on these roads.

N Coram along Rt 112 might be the big “winners”-seeing a few 12” estimate there.

Yep I can imagine around the Nissequogue must be a disaster. Some 11.5” pixels between 25A and all of Rt 347. Thankfully the rain is finally pushing east but this will be really bad.
