Safe to say this was another JB bust?
-
Flooded NYC subways aside we really lucked out with this one. It had a shot to intensify yesterday too and never really did so.
-
Looks almost to a T like 2/25/10's radar as it pivoted over CT. Central Park might end up at 8" by the end.
-
And I'm not surprised this came in as a TS. Models were showing that for days. It had a brief window yesterday to blow up when the eye started clearing out but never happened. Models generally showed a mid-cat 1 when it crossed the Gulf Stream, and then weakening as it kept going north.
-
I'd say generously in Long Beach we had 25-30mph gusts. Now it's practically calm.

6-7" of rain which radar estimates in Brooklyn/Manhattan is a boring event? But yeah wind/wave/water-wise it was very meh here.
-
It'll linger around for a while but it seems like the back edge is inching its way north. We'll see I guess. It's definitely not over north of me through NYC and Hudson Valley. Sort of the same precip shield/orientation as 2/25/10 with the pivoting NW low.

Lower Manhattan to Canarsie has 6-7" by radar estimates. Sky is brightening up south of me. Rain should be mostly be done here soon (not for northern NYC and North Shore-looks socked in for a while there).

Probably over 4” in Long Beach by radar estimates. Rain is letting up but still moderate. Banding looks to be edging north.

This band has been sitting over me for a couple hours now. Pouring. It’s like a deformation band from a nor’easter.

There might be part of Narragansett or Buzzards Bay that had a nasty surge impact but I agree. Highest wind so far seems to be 66mph at Block Island and Isaias at FRG had 78mph. I’m sure plenty of customers there will lose power and the wet ground doesn’t help for tree damage but we/they lucked out that the eye didn’t clear out and it didn’t ramp up to 110mph when it had a chance.

Yep it’s pouring here in Long Beach. Not as hard as last night but enough to I’m sure flood some basements. I checked out the waves-maybe 5-6 footers but 2 days before Sandy they seemed twice as high.

It's pouring where I am about 25mi SE of Midtown but it's about 15-20mph wind at best. High tide wasn't even all that impressive. Glad to be on the west side for once lol. For comparison Isaias had 78mph gusts here but maybe 5 minutes of actual rain. The bend NW is starting though so someone will get nailed with the rain in CT, upstate NY or down here.
-
We'll be fine here. High tide came and went, and it's really about a 15-20 mph breeze where I am 6 blocks from the beach, seriously. Have to watch where the rain sets up with the NW bend, where it sits will have street/basement flooding.

It definitely is starting the bend NW now on radar.

For comparison Isaias gusted to 78mph at Farmingdale. There will be an area that winds get nasty but surge/wind won’t be a big deal outside of coastal RI. It’ll be talked about much more for rain.

Big rain still to come on the Euro. For most 4”+. Essentially a 2/25/10 scenario from the hook west, interaction with the ULL and slowed down movement. If that hook really happens someone will get crushed just SW of it. 4.45” Central Park so far.

I definitely do believe the Catskills area rain max given the upslope somewhere and assumed hook left.
-
Euro’s really harping on this interaction with the ULL and hook left to bring heavy rain west. Honestly it’s pretty believable given how tropical systems usually behave at our latitude.
-
Yowzers. Hopefully that’s wrong after what happened tonight in NYC.
-
Decent breeze in Long Beach but peaceful otherwise. Had a literally 5 second long heavy shower a little bit ago. This will be known for rain for this sub forum other than maybe the far eastern posters.

Subways are closing, Brooklyn Battery Tunnel shut down I believe, water rescues in Brooklyn and cars elsewhere stalled/roads closed. So…. Pretty bad.
