  1. Wow models continue to show a lot of warmth near the polls in the long range. This year has just been insane record warmth.
  2. Lots of icepack getting destroyed, demolished, obliterated, who's going to give a play by play?
  3. No, This is a bomb cyclone which will transfer lots of heat to the surface and mix up subsurface water. It's Icemageddon basically.
  4. Here's the Iowa state site national loop that doesn't jump everywhere. You can mess with the settings as desired. https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/current/mcview.phtml?prod=usrad&java=script&mode=archive&frames=50&interval=60&year=2016&month=1&day=22&hour=0&minute=55
  5. That shows how nicely we got death banded during the 4 hours I tried to sleep.
  6. You can clearly see the AVN was just too quick dropping in the northern stream down and trended slower every run. Slow low in the lakes= bad news for I95.
  7. The 1st low would have been a big hit for the mid atlantic had the 2nd low not been in the way. The 2nd low would have been a big hit for the mid atlantic had the 1st low not been in the way. I also can't think of another time that the heaviest snowfall axis was so far displaced from the track of the 500mb low. The 500mb low tracked over Norfolk, VA while Vermont was getting the heaviest snow. The 2/10/2010 500mb low tracked further north nd gave Baltimore 20". Nice job DSN btw.
  8. Blizzard of 96 left the most snow over the area according to every map I can find. 2/5/2010 would have been much better if it were 3 degrees colder, and I didn't like the white rain and the paste at the beginning of that storm and that's why I don't rate it as good as 1996.
  9. http://washington.cbslocal.com/2013/08/22/cathedral-repairs-still-adding-up-2-years-after-earthquake/ The Washington monument and National Cathedral are still under repair.
  10. Loved the GFS OTS solution until 60 hrs out.
  11. If DT ever comes back he should only be allowed to blog not post on the Forum.
  12. First paragraph deceptive. One of the goriest articles Ive read. If I had been there I probably would have vomited.
  13. I love Hurricanes but I hate Tropical Storms

    1. Riptide

      Riptide

You need a tropical storm to get a hurricane

    2. Riptide

      Riptide

Once again, you are quite ridiculous sir.

  14. Sounds kind of like Rice Crispies only 10,000X louder. I was wondering if you could hear people screaming or does the wind mangle that too?
  15. No they said Tornado plenty of times in all those videos. They wouldn't have filmed it if they thought it was a normal Tstorm.
  16. Nice whoever did that video read my mind, just what I was looking for. Before this I thought all the tornados were in the afternoon.
  17. Strong winds quickly carried the clouds and rain cooled air away. I'd say it did almost nill to supress the outbreak. Extra soil moister may have even helped it.
  18. Wow. Actually I figured it out. Probably the low pressure inside the tornado that forced those off. Wind Speed alone can't do it since the surface is parallel. So manhole covers make a crude barometer.
  19. Doctors are busy gluing his head back together.
  20. Oh well, I guess we can have BB come in and replace you.
  21. 2005 was a moisture starved clipper the last second. Then again so was the 1978. Not usually good for DC.
  22. A lot of people are still wondering how the tornado killed so many people? So i'll ask it now how did that tornado kill so few people? It destroyed 8000 homes with only 153 deaths, were people just not in them when they got hit? And it took out the friggen hospital on top of it, People must be able to bleed for hours without dying those Bruce Willis movies must have had it right all along. Edit: Not that I root for people to diing but I would have guessed this was a lot worse based on the pics and destruction statistics.
  23. Is this a tally over the past several weeks ? It would be strange to have no deaths for two weeks and then 8 in one day.
