    It’s saying 95k out as of 4:46. If that’s correct that’s really good. Sandy was 900k and even March 2010 was 250k. Maybe it is because we have lost all the biggest trees over the years like was said. Maybe the more aggressive tree trimming and “hardening the system” helped?.. but then again that might be giving too much credit to PSEG.

    Was at the gas station and got half way through filling up and the power blinked from this thunderstorm. Already a few small branches down (one was not so small). If this is a sign of things to come we are in trouble.

    Just got an email from PSEG. If we really do get the severe wind impacts out here, regular people really are not aware. PSEG Long Island has been monitoring Isaias around the clock and our latest projections show that this storm has been escalating in strength and has the potential to cause a significant number of power outages. We now anticipate that this storm may be one of the strongest to reach Long Island in years and some outages could last for an extended period. The energy grid is much stronger now than it was just a few years ago, but we are prepared to respond to any outages safely and as quickly as possible with our own crews and additional utility crews that we are bringing in from off-island.

    Another day with buoys reading 80 or close to it. I don’t remember this happening with regularity years ago.

    Those two cells off the south shore are creating another fantastic light show if you can get a good line of sight. Hamptons out to Montauk must be getting it good right now. They don’t get svr warned often.

    91/74/101 here. I’m not to far south and west of FRG. Actually I’m closer to the wantagh mesonet which is at 91/75/102. I think you gain a degree in dp every mile south you go from the southern state parkway.

    Winds picked up a little out here. Even a 20mph gust “looks” worse in summer blowing through dense oak trees. 30-40mph would probably start taking down limbs here and there.

    Thanks! I knew someone on here would figure it out. I found it inside my house near the front door. Didn’t want to kill it but also didn’t want it to fly off in the house so I snatched it with my fingers and went to put it back out the door. Bad idea. Bite still hurts a little this morning but not bad. Makes sense it was around since there are a bunch of potted plants outside and there were a ton of aphids in one a few days ago.

    Just heard. RIP. Say what you will about the weather channel but that core group of mets are great. Dave always had tremendous energy and passion when on air. Will be missed.

    Thanks. Today makes 5 days. Forecasted highs are 90 or better through Thursday. Could make the low end of that list.

    Last minute decision to add the extra legs in the middle. I built the boards with 2x2's instead of 2x4's to try and make it as sleek as possible in an attempt to pack it in the car for camping trips. The two extra legs were just for more stability

    What's everyone doing for the weekend. Hosting a BBQ Saturday with the new American themed corn hole set I built. Will be at the beach the rest of the weekend. Water temps 70 or even better now. Get out there.
