  1. I’m old enough to remember when the glacier breeze kicked in and lowered afternoon temps. Sometimes I even had to put on my Sabre Tooth Tiger jacket in the middle of summer. Good times.
  2. NWS Boulder ::Attention:: We are currently investigating this weather phenomenon. What we do know is that it is rather bright so avoid looking directly at it. We have our best minds on it! #cowx #
  3. All true but it doesn’t change the fact that a fuel shortage can be created any time everyone decides to fill up their tank at once. Shortages have two components. The supply side and the demand side. The toilet paper shortage last year was totally demand driven. Companies quickly upped the TP production over 30% and there was still a shortage. This time it is both supply and demand that has been disrupted so the effect is more rapid and severe for a short time. Once gasoline starts being delivered to stations in a few days it will quickly return to a more normal situation since most cars have full tanks and demand will lesson for a few days.
  4. Primarily self inflicted. Everyone filled their tanks at once. Think bread and milk in the winter.
  5. A lot of women will. Just saying.
  6. Boone can be a very windy place. Way back, I won’t even tell you how far back, when I was at App St I lived at the west end of town and had to walk back home after a night event at school. I smoked back then. It was cold as shit and the wind was roaring. I managed to light a cigarette against the doorway of the movie theater and started walking directly into the wind up King St. It was so cold and windy that the tobacco burned inside the paper of the cigarette but the paper only had some small holes in it. I’d never seen that before or since.
  7. I was trying to see exactly what pee sized hail was and my wife got really mad with the mess I made in the bathroom. She said something about moving to a home.
  8. 44º/82º. Real spring has commenced.
  9. Congratulations! Major life change inbound. Enjoy.
  10. 28º here this am. Calling for 24º tonight. A chilly 36/24 at the moment.
  11. Even down here in the southern triad NWS is forecasting a low of 26 Friday morning.
  12. And it got here. Quite the active storm. Not very long lasting but intense. Heavy rain, pea sized hail, lightning strikes caused 3 momentary power outages, weather station registered a 43.4 mph wind gust partally confirmed by the branches lying in my yard. Also the temperature dropped from 72º to 59º in about 6 minutes. All in all one of the more entertaining storms in several years.
  13. Evidently only if you bend over and crack one.
  14. Now, now. You better watch your step or I might be the one with the last laugh.
  15. Tomorrow a giant unicorn will fly over the Triad with a giant rainbow coming out of its ass. I really enjoy these things that will never happen threads.
  16. I think the average person would classify any tornado they were caught in as violent. Sometimes the NWS and SPC shoots themselves in the foot when it comes to informing the general public. The wording of the severe thunderstorm probabilities are a case in point. MARGINAL (light green) SLIGHT (dark green) ENHANCED (Yellow) MODERATE (Red) HIGH (Magenta) Moderate is a higher level than enhanced? Everyone I know knows the difference between marginal and slight. One means just a little and the other means not much. Colors don’t help. I’ve never seen a fire engine with flashing magenta lights. Over complicated and just cries out for something simple. I know!!!! Some folks in India invented a system for doing just this almost 2000 years ago that is perfect for this kind of differentation and would not confuse anyone. Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 4 Level 5 Everyone I know really does know that 4 is more than 3.
  17. Rotation passed just north of me. I never really experienced any wind. A half inch of rain in less than 10 minutes was pretty much it. EDIT: This should not be viewed as a complaint.
  18. If it had a blue tint check the airline schedules.
  19. Good. You will feel a lot better a week or two after your second shot. A bit of freedom is very enjoyable after a year of hunkering down.
  20. 23.5º thisº morning at my house. Lower than I expected. I nice warm week incoming though. I can live with that.
  21. Fly away buzzard, fly away crow, way down south where the winds don’t blow. Rub your nose and give two winks, save us from this awful jinx.
  22. No reason to complain. Just go with the flow and enjoy the season. Maybe you could make a pollen man. Unlike those fickle snowmen he will never melt.
