  1. Went from nothing to roughly an inch in the span of about 40 minutes. Temp 33.
  2. Low of 16 here, already up to 28 though.
  3. West/Central Suffolk County is NYC indented slightly further into the Atlantic with an anemic UHI. The Forks share DNA with Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, but outside of that I don’t see any strong correlation with New England. Suffolk County is warmer than all of New England, MTK is actually naturally milder than NYC/LGA/JFK/EWR in the winter. Longitude can count during some storms, but we can’t discount latitude, elevation, wind direction, etc. which isn’t dissimilar to NYC. ISP and FRG averages, departures from average, temperature records, and precipitation seem to generally stay in alignment with the greater NYC area. Suffolk County is basically Portland, ME and Richmond, VA fused together, while retaining Richmond’s plant hardiness zone.
  4. Sleet mixing in with the rain now. Temp is 42. We have 6 full days left of “winter” please let the snow chances die the way they have all season. Forsythias are blooming.
  5. About 30 minutes ago I just randomly started thinking about pools and summertime and then a few minutes ago I saw several people in CT reporting a chlorine smell in the rain, I thought it was my imagination.
  6. This may be the first winter where I’ve had zero complaints, I couldn’t even complain about the two cold outbreaks as they were so short lived that they barely even registered. High of 62 here. More of this please.
  7. I wanted to throw boiling water in the air to see what happens but I’d probably just burn myself. Today’s low of 1 is the lowest temp on record for my PWS (5 year history), the highest is 99. 1 degree off of 0 and 100. Temp now up to 12.
  8. Grateful we aren’t in Boston’s shoes. Single digit negatives are insane enough, but double digit negatives take the cake. New England is a different world compared to here.
  9. We most certainly will see a shutout, eventually, the days of reliably cold winters have ended. We just waited until the final act of winter to see some pixie dust.
