Sky looks 8:30 PM in Bohemia.
-
0.29”, heaviest downpour in ages, wish it lasted longer. Inside the newly issued Special Weather Statement box but I doubt I’ll see anything more, everything looks just to the north.
-
Finally scoring, heaviest rain in months here. CG strike about 30 feet away too, instant thunder, phone notification 10 seconds later.

Is the heat wave criteria of three consecutive days of 90 local to our region? Or is it a general rule? I’m on my second heat wave in a week (and this year), 90’s barely even stand out anymore they almost feel average. Maybe 4 or 5 consecutive days or a threshold higher than 90 would be more fitting. 88 now, down from 90. Clouding up in Garden City, PWS still showing full sun in Suffolk.
-
High of 96 here, highest of the year, currently 87.
-
94, humidity slowly creeping back up.
-
92 here too.
-
I lucked out with 0.97”, total would’ve been less than half of that without one of those tiny pop up showers yesterday.
-
91 today makes it a heat wave. 95, 93, 91
-
Wouldn’t we get a drier heat under such a setup?
-
90/75/100. High so far is 93. If we can squeeze out another 90 tomorrow that’ll be the first heat wave of the season.
-
95/67 split today.
-
Sunny drizzle here, rumbles of thunder to the southeast.
-
Sun’s out and the temp spiked to 86. DP in the upper 70’s.
-
Interesting.
-
First 70+ low of the year here with 71, it’s currently 77 so there’s no way it doesn’t hold. Gotten close a few times before but this is the first. High of 93.

I wonder how these storms usually manage to sustain themselves well off Jersey Shore but they die out everywhere else. The east end is also a sneaky little hot spot.

I never hear anyone mention how gloomy it is Upstate. I’d go nuts. We actually do quite well relative to the rest of Mid-Atlantic states, only coastal SE Virginia is sunnier. I’m assuming the greater atmospheric stability near the coast inhibits cloud formation to an extent. -
I swear I see more lightning to the north over the sound or south over the ocean than I ever do over land here. Outflow incoming, maybe we’ll see a few puffs of a breeze. I hate it here.

84/77/94. Nice.

Ominous sky in Hauppauge, wouldn’t be surprised if something pops here.
-
Reminds me of 2018. I remember the complaints from west of the city about it being too wet and cloudy that summer, not the case east of the city.
-
Even rogue pop up cells avoid me, and I’m surrounded on 3 sides. I can still count on one hand the amount of days I’ve heard thunder this year, including right now.

I can’t tell if this is smoke or high clouds.
