Starting to accumulate in Huntington, after several hours of heavy snow.
-
Moderate snow blowing horizontally in Ronkonkoma.
-
36 and misty here. 1.78” of rain so far.

Lingering snow tends to look filthy after the first 24 hours. I’m glad it melts quickly.
-
Very abrupt changeover between no/little snow to snow between exits 49 and 50 on Sunrise Highway. I thought you guys were lying lol.
-
Nothing here.

Port Jefferson is under water and the ferry to Bridgeport isn’t running. Now I have to drive. Lovely.
-
Light rain/sleet mix. Temp 42. The March sun felt invigorating earlier.

I got an average of 3.4” with a max depth of 4.0” in two spots and a min depth of 2.5”. Low was 32.4, didn’t even dip below freezing. Decent little event. I hate measuring in storms with mega drifts several feet high and bare grass 10 feet away. On the south shore I measured roughly 1.5” with my finger.

Went from nothing to roughly an inch in the span of about 40 minutes. Temp 33.
-
Low of 16 here, already up to 28 though.

Chunky mood flakes, starting to wind down. My kind of snow.

Even with the wind today turned out much better than yesterday, sunshine with a high of 48.

West/Central Suffolk County is NYC indented slightly further into the Atlantic with an anemic UHI. The Forks share DNA with Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, but outside of that I don’t see any strong correlation with New England. Suffolk County is warmer than all of New England, MTK is actually naturally milder than NYC/LGA/JFK/EWR in the winter. Longitude can count during some storms, but we can’t discount latitude, elevation, wind direction, etc. which isn’t dissimilar to NYC. ISP and FRG averages, departures from average, temperature records, and precipitation seem to generally stay in alignment with the greater NYC area. Suffolk County is basically Portland, ME and Richmond, VA fused together, while retaining Richmond’s plant hardiness zone.

Late high of 42. Gross.

39/37 split today. 0.06” of mist. Backdoor Cold Front vibes. Today was more than enough winter for me. I’m done.
-
Stronger than I was expecting.
-
Sleet mixing in with the rain now. Temp is 42. We have 6 full days left of “winter” please let the snow chances die the way they have all season. Forsythias are blooming.

Yikes.

62 today. 4th 60+ high this month.

About 30 minutes ago I just randomly started thinking about pools and summertime and then a few minutes ago I saw several people in CT reporting a chlorine smell in the rain, I thought it was my imagination.

Up to 73 now, this is crazy. I’m actually overdressed right now. First heat index of the year at 72.
