  1. And AccuWeather is showing 2-4" in Chattanooga. Weather Channel shows 1/2". WTVC local.showing 1/2-2" but David Glenn also mentioned it could all change for better or worse depending on the exact track and how early the cold air arrives. He's as stumped as the rest and he is very good. He's smart to play it safe and keep totals low. He mentioned we have almost 2 days for the models to keep changing. Edit to add: He did seem pretty confident Signal and Lookout Mtn should do well but he's not putting numbers out as of now for a mountain guess. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  2. I just got home from work and haven't had time to read back all the posts. Does it look like Chattanooga will get 1" of rain or 1 1/2" of rain? [emoji3061] Kidding. Been here before and might be a last minute surprise. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  3. When I quoted your post I hadn't made it down to the most recent posts. Chatty is due for a good one that will be on the ground more than 6-12 hours. So many different possibilities. Let's pull for one of those 1970's type snows when we get a nice thumpings for everyone. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  4. Be patient. There's still plenty of time to shift the "No Snow, not even a dusting"" over us in SE Hamilton county. [emoji3061] Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  5. Must be the same in-house models they use in Chattanooga. Locals are saying rain with a possible mix on Sunday with a chance of light snow. They have the low basically just south of the Tennessee border moving NE towards Knoxville with all the snow way north and west. They also showed heavy snow just to our south and east into Georgia and SC/NC border. They did mention a much further southern track would allow for more snow. They are leaning to a little snow possible late Sunday with more in the higher elevations of east Tennessee. They said it "could" change but I guess they are playing it safe. David Glenn on WTVC is very good. He showed the minimal but said he's closely watching Sunday as he laughed. He knows it's possible. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  6. It would be nice for this thing to somehow end up as a nice Miller A but as more data comes in it looks like the models are "leaning" towards a Miller B. If a Miller B transpires that won't bode well for the southern valley. Maybe you more knowledgeable posters can chime in on that. We're still 4 days out so we all know anything can happen. NrgJeff, please help reel us a good one in for our area. [emoji74] We need it! [emoji3587] Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  7. I'm surprised to see MRX talking about possible snow for next weekend. Normally 6 days is a long time in the future for MRX to even suggest a possibility. They mention the model differences and the potential for accumulating winter precipitation if the low takes the southern track. https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=MRX&issuedby=MRX&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1 Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  8. Weather apps are showing 33° and snow on Signal Mtn. Son-in-law said cold rain and 33°. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  9. We have now switched to mostly rain and a nice 35°[emoji1]. Good luck folks. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  10. Temp shot up to 39°. Sleet now confirmed in Ooltewah and temp has lowered to 35°. Probably short lived but maybe north and east of us can score. Edit to add: A few token flakes have mixed in Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  11. The blue dot is my house. This has to be a virga storm because we haven't had anything fall from the sky in Ooltewah. Added channel 9 radar. Showing same thing as TWC radar. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  12. I'm in Ooltewah. I would be shocked if we receive anything. I hope you're correct that we might get a little something. We moved to Ooltewah in June 2016. Other than a dusting here and there, the only snow we've seen was from the February 2020 sunrise snow where we received between 3-4". It was melted and gone by noon. I would love to see a small shift southward and get a good burst of moderate snow. I've seen it happen before in this area, good and bad. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  13. This could be one of those "sneaky" systems for Chattanooga. We laugh because we are prone to getting shut out of snow but it's sort of like poker. You always remember the bad beats but never talk about the 1 or 2 outer you hit to win a big hand. This is not a wishcast at all, but I've seen several times the moisture was more than predicted and Chattanooga was just on the line of rain/snow. If we happen to get this thing a hair south and hit the transition zone and be on the snow side with rain just to the south of us, I've seen some really heavy snow here when this happens. I'm not writing this one off yet. I'm actually intrigued with a possible surprise here but as we all know in our area, everything has to be perfect. Maybe this will be one of those times. We will know come Thursday![emoji3587] Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  14. Negative Ghost Rider. Area mountains and everywhere north, south east and west got snow. All we had at our house was big heavy flakes around 3:30 a.m. and that didn't last long. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  15. This is Chattanooga in a nutshell. Nothing in the valley but check out the areas just around us. Also, I received a notification on my phone that Nob North golf course (Cohutta, Ga. Between Ringgold and Dalton) 15 miles south of as a crow flies that the course is closed today due to the snow not melting off. I think they picked up 2-3". This is the Chatty area snow life. [emoji1] The picture with no snow was what we received at our home in Ooltewah. Nice, dry ground looking out our front door. [emoji3061] Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  16. It really does amaze me how this can continuously happen. I honestly can't remember a statewide snow where Chattanooga got involved with at least just 1 measley inch of snow. It's just mind boggling. There were some huge flakes that dropped for a short period of time but that was it. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  17. Just had a nice clasp of thunder. Currently 35° with sleet in Ooltewah. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  18. 12:18 a.m. in Ooltewah currently sitting at 41° with light rain. Son in law lives on Signal Mtn. They have a mixed bag at 35°. They should do well up there. We are always a crapshoot here but I guess I'll ride it out and see what transpires. We are off until the 10th so I'll have time to makeup my lost sleep. Stovepipe, save me a drink! [emoji481] [emoji1634] Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  19. Same here. [emoji1] Maybe we can get lucky and at least see a good snow shower in Ooltewah. I'm not holding my breath but it would be a nice surprise. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  20. Major damage in Bowling Green with several deaths being reported. [emoji853] Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  21. We were oh so close once again in the Chatty area. Went to bed it was 35* and sleet. Woke to 33* and rain in Ooltewah. Go figure. [emoji849] The rain has washed away what looks to be a decent ground cover of sleet. Only remaining ice was in flower beds and on car windows. Just arrived to work and it's a nice, steady rain at 34*. [emoji31] Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  22. Rain has changed to sleet in Ooltewah at our house. We are currently sleet and 36*. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  23. That surprises me that snow totals would be cut in Chattanooga. [emoji851] Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  24. None of the maps are loading for me with limited Verizon service at work. Is the frozen depicted showing up from Knoxville north and east or does any of it make it to the southern valley around Chatty? Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
  25. Looking at all the maps that have been posted, the Chattanooga area is oh so close, as usual, for a chance at frozen early next week. It's usually too warm here but a little drop of that lurking cold air can be the difference. This far out it's a toss up. With that said, I found the verbage interesting on the Weather Channel app. I know it's the Weather Channel and their forecast changes with every model run but I found it interesting.
