Although my area is not technically in deficit, we absolutely have drought-like conditions here with hard, dry ground, dormant grass and lots of brown leaves on the ground. Only 0.5 since July 2
I'm looking forward to this break in humidity coming up but am smh at how we just went through two weeks of super high precipitable water with only a half inch of rain to show for it. I just watered the garden and damn the ground is rock hard. Last real rain was July 1-2, and 0.5 since then. Now things are really going to get ugly with almost no chance of rain for weeks.
This shows how much of a craphole this place is and that it's not me exaggerating. Great looking radar moving in from west broke up right over me, then reformed east. This happens over and over. Only 0.5" total since July 2
Been watching the weather where our daughter is in Utah and it sounds glorious. Right now it's 73 with a DP of 50. Tomorrow she returns home to eastern NC
I plant a lot of lantanas for annuals since summers are so arid here. I can't believe we are looking at no rain this week after what it looked like a few days ago. My grass has shut down.
Yest again everything misses and consolidates into a heavy solid line to the east. It's truly incredible how different the summer climate is between my microdesert and places just 10-20 miles south and east. With no rain for almost two weeks now, I can say
DROUGHT
Partly sunny and 83 - turned into a nice afternoon for sitting out. Got just 0.2 total for the week (all yesterday), which amounts to about one twentieth of what the 7-day qpf forecast said a few days ago. LOL
Nuthin burger here again. We might be moving to Prince Frederick in a few months so maybe I'll actually see more than one thunderstorm a year. Summer in Germantown is sad
You're good. We do fine with stratiform rain events, but thunderstorms are orographically blocked here and they are very rare, maybe 2 or 3 per summer. I expect less than a half inch for the whole week
Radar looks like very light shower but it's solidly moderate rain coming down. Efficient rain processes? It must be pouring in central VA to southern MD
