    In 1994 we had a devastating ice storm with 2 inches of solid ice. At times, we had moderate rain and 18 degrees! It was due to the cold layer being shallow enough for the rain to reach the ground as liquid despite such low surface temps. I this upcoming storm, hopefully the cold layer is thick enough to freeze the raindrops into sleet!

    Highs in the low to mid 80s in south FL the next few days! So different from the typical cold blast in the east where south FL is in the 50s. Anyone that booked a trip to FL this weekend got their money's worth

    Rooting for the underdog GFS to pull an upset over the vaunted EURO for much less ice down there. I was in Owings for 1994 and it was awful. I've got family in Owings, Huntingtown and Leonardtown.

    He talks about the dangerous ice storm risk for VA with temps in the upper teen/low 20s with well over an inch of accretion followed by single digits early next week. Very serious esp for people without generators. I have family in St Marys and Calvert and am starting to worry about them.

    Mine refused the rolling hills of Frederick County, MD so we are moving to Calvert Hoping for one last super MoCo-HoCo band from this storm before I start hanging out on the lower southern MD/eastern shore thread

    St. Mary's county would have 8-10" snow followed by well over an inch of freezing rain. That would be real bad

    I drove to my parents' place in Calvert as they were expecting 8-10 while Germantown was looking at an inch or two. They got 8 and Germantown got 7 LOL

    Low of 15 here also where it stayed most of the night. Teens all the way to the Carolina coast!

    15 degrees with gusty winds and a frozen landscape. Our 12 pound doodle was not happy going out to do her business! Some relatives arriving back to DCA this evening after a week in Key West -- hope they are prepared LOL

    Subsidence kills! OT but in that Jan 25, 2000 storm I was stuck between two huge bands for hours and ended up with 7" while places to my west and east had 15-plus

    Brutal gradient in MontCo. I have about 2" just NE of Germantown while there's a 4.8" report from only about 3 miles from me between Clarksburg and Damascus

    Wow 1.3"! I'm just down the road near the interx of Ridge Road and 355 (Milestone) and have just a coating. I'd like to see what the high spots in Damascus are doing
