  1. I am with you on hating March (except 2014 ). I am looking forward to gardening
  2. I was surprised to see a 6.8 reported from 1 mile ENE of Ridge! Big outlier
  3. Truth! I remember that time a surprise squall with temps in the teens dropped about a quarter inch, and the flash freeze about shut the area down
  4. Please let that be right! I want huge SER and a +10 temp departure for March. Put a bullet into the head of this winter, point blank range
  5. Good point. thanks! A hotel right on Rt. 50 would be a safe bet for turning around and heading home after. But, now I'm thinking I might just go to family in Calvert if they end up forecast for 6+ at game time and we're looking at a car-topper. The real good stuff might be Williamsburg to Norfolk but that's too far
  6. Glad I went for a walk when it was sunny and 60. Now the wind is roaring and one big falling branch just missed the house by 10 feet
  7. Thinking about chasing the mid-week storm if it stays east like the last few runs and eyeballing Easton. Anyone who chased snow -- did you stay in a hotel, B&E or Air B&B?
  8. Not gonna be an ogre in the obs thread as I get 2-3 like the last two events -- got parents and sister in northern Calvert (Owings/Huntingtown) and I'm gonna crash one of them I'm almost tempted to go to Salisbury but that means finding a place I went to Calvert for the Jan 30, 2010 event that was expected 1-2 here and 8-10 there, and they ended up with 8 and Germantown got 7 The the storm shifted north right at game time. Maybe that happens again?
  9. Great post, thanks for the info! All I want is what Pensacola, FL got -- 10" of snow falling during the day with temps in the 20s
  10. They left off any numbers for Calvert because they would have been NSFW
  11. Here is a guide from Windy.com that provides short explanations of the different models, including their pros and cons Summary of Weather models
  12. I was kicking myself for not visiting Calvert for that last storm. This time I'm going (assuming it's another S/E hit)
  13. At that time it did look over but we got another 1" overnight to make it not as bad as the last miss. Just the frustration of getting missed to the south so much
  14. About 3" just N of Germantown, now light drizzle and 33 Parents in northern Calvert got 8". They got 11" on Jan 6
  15. LOL at NWS still having my area at 4-6 when we barely have 2 and it's over. Just like last time WSW for 3-5 and we got 1.5. They should start using cm for snow forecasts
  16. LOLOLOL at that map. They have my area at 4-6 and we are already stopping with barely 1.5 otg
  17. That's an understatement for our cursed area! I just hope that, if we do get a big threat to materialize, I don't let the shell shock from these last two failures ruin the tracking and anticipation for me
  18. Already tapering off and it looks like 1.25. That makes two WSWs for 3-5" and 3-6" and we get 1.5 or less both times. I have yet to see heavy snow rate in any storm. What an awful winter
  19. I left Calvert years ago and it has paid off in the past, but this winter is a killer! My fam down there got 11" from Jan 6 and they have almost 5" with heavy snow now. I'll be lucky to get 2 inches. I really need a good hit for my area from this late Feb window
  20. Assuming you mean bust for folks DC south -- radar looks like best precip is lining up south of a line from Charlottesville to Fredericksburg to far lower southern MD. I think a lot of people south of DC expecting 6-plus are gonna end up with just a couple inches. I'm out on this one and hoping for the Feb 20 to March 10 window
  21. What a winter for Calvert if that holds! Hey there Wes
  22. I would be thrilled with that! It would make up for Jan 19 where I had a WSW for 3-5 right up to start time and got 1.5
  23. And a bonanza for southern MD! I fled that place because of snow but this winter my Calvert folks got a thundersnow squall with 2" in a half hour on Jan 3, and 11 inches on Jan 6. They also had a 15-inch storm a few years ago that the northern part of the forum missed
  24. What I like about these latest runs is the slight WSW to ENE orientation rather than straight west to east. I am starting to feel good about this one!
