  1. Nothing here yet as everything seems to be sliding just south. We'll see if my rain shadow lucks out with some scraps.
  2. Congrats on the move and getting out of the disgusting desert that you left behind
  3. Just looked at Key West -- lows the last three mornings 86, 87 and 87 with HX rarely below 100 and there are some water temps as high as mid-90s! That is sick. Better hope a tropical cyclone does not get a taste of those water temps. Hoping for a rare thunderstorm the next couple of days but the LWX disco doesn't make me optimistic with the typical west today and east tomorrow.
  4. Article below says this is the 2nd driest year ever for Mont Co, and my spot is the worst of all as places nearby have had downpours that I missed. I do water my flower beds and pots but I'm letting the lawn go dormant. WTOP Article on Drought
  5. Well here we go again with likely wording for storms Fri-Sat. Let's see if I can top the big 0.05 I got from the last "event"
  6. Well the rain may have failed yet again but the front delivered with nice weather today. 85/63 with clean air and a breeze. Not bad for July 10
  7. Completely whiffed AGAIN with just enough to barely wet the ground. It split right over me then formed a solid line 3 miles to my east like it does over and over. I wish I took screenshots of radar because it's hard to believe. My wife just got back from Gaithersburg which is outside the desert zone and said it was pouring there. JESUS CHRIST this place sucks. I can't wait to move out of this SH!THOLE in a couple more years.
  8. A rainfall map showing the stark differences in totals in our region from June 1 thru end of today will be unbelievable. Mostly cloudy and humid as I did some gardening work. I'll be running the sprinklers tomorrow morning
  9. .NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... MID-MORNING UPDATE: CONFIDENCE IS INCREASING THAT THAT THE GREATEST THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS, AND ESPECIALLY FLASH FLOODING MAY BE FROM THE BALTIMORE METRO AREA NORTH AND EAST. Well I and my fellow desert rats are just shocked! My bar is a half inch and one rumble of pity thunder but that will take some luck
  10. We went to the Tarara winery near Leesburg last night and the ground was dry as a bone there - even worse than my micro-desert. I really miss the zoomable iweather rainfall map! I don't even use it any more.
  11. Let's see if my drought-stricken area can finally cash in. I have just 0.85 for July after a very dry June. I also have not seen 1" in a day in ages. This just feels like another 0.2 or less deal.
  12. Hey LWX, I fixed tomorrows FFW for you:
  13. Ahahahahaha! NOPE Dumb Euro gonna dumb Euro. We got zip today and we'll get zip Sunday. I've had one "big" rain event with 0.6 which is like other places getting 5 inches. I've had less than 2" total since June 1 and would be surprised to see more than 3" for the entirety of met summer. So pardon me when I LOL at these pathetic QPF forecasts
  14. Another ominous-looking forecast including a FFW, and dry as a bone again. Watch the big Sunday rain wording yield nothing as well
  15. It's crazy how much of a thunderstorm magnet the Baltimore area is! I didn't even know that line had formed. Oh well too far east for me today -- on to Sunday?
  16. Part of one bed with lantana (still small), tropical milkweed, sunpatiens and vinca Another bed with more of the same -- I garden for butterflies and hummingbirds
  17. Yep, they have up to 9" in some spots north of Balt City since June 1. And look at northern DE:
  18. A big 0.10 in the central MD desert. The last two days were probably the last chance for a very long time for rain here so the extreme Drought of '23 rolls on. All of the 1.5 or so I got in June was nickels and dimes, no more than about 0.3 at a time. I can't remember the last time we got a downpour here - I have yet to see one thunderstorm. My thinking is I won't see real rain until our six months of 40s/50s and wet starts in November.
  19. They must have big years every so often at different spots. We had a massive infestation about 10 or so years ago that was so bad you could hear them munching on stuff and they actually killed a number of 10-20 foot cherry trees in our neighborhood. I never saw them like that again including this year. We are probably due soon.
  20. I see LWX dropped its laughable severe thunderstorm watch for this evening
  21. We did get a brief pop-up shower but that's it. Maybe 0.10
  22. This. I chuckled when I read things like "90%" and "half to three quarters" and the severe thunderstorm watch LOL. I'll be running the garden sprinklers later and have no concerns on plans to grill on the deck this evening
  23. One of us three desert rats has to get lucky at some point! Got a small t-storm moving due east toward me....but usually they get pulled up along the high elevations in the NW part of the county towards Damascus. We'll see
  24. A big 0.15 for the desert! Better than nothing I guess Sorry in advance but what my area needs is a tropical storm landfall in the NE gulf which tracks slowly up the east coast. I'll need some of you to take one for the team and deal with 8-10 inch amounts so that I can get a 2" rainfall.
  25. Wait, you moved back to Stephens City? Watching that line coming through Loudoun and hoping, but I also know what west-to-east usually means for my rain shadow
