Read the room. It’s not difficult. You are not a regular contributor in here so dropping in for this stuff out of the blue is the wrong vibe.

Thanks for the in depth stats. I think everyone agrees there was a warm period over the holidays, but this is a forward looking thread so let’s take it easy on the past details.

Indeed...Weathernext is there. I assume I have the hobbyist level...CWG gave me gratis access upon retirement. I am sure it is just another path to disappointment!

Yeah, well, Scottie, this has always been the case. It has more visibility now than it used to....for every blizzard of 93 where it was forecast 5 days out to the March 2001 debacle in the northeast....such is living as a meteorologist. I burnt out on this stuff a while ago but I still enjoy watching the lead in. Most meteorologists add massive value to people's lives but only get called out when it goes wrong. Until they make a computer that can intake data from every point on the globe at every altitude all at once then model it, things won't change (i.e. won't happen in our life time) ...and if it does eventually happen, then it will be boring....

Fall/Winter Banter - Football, Basketball, Snowball?
Mr Bob replied to John1122's topic in Tennessee Valley
Hey Carver! I am not in that one…I did meet Joe D’aleo in 1984 when I got to do a two week job shadow in high school there. I never did meet John Coleman. I didn’t start until 89 and both were gone. I am, however, in the other book. There is a 4 or 5 page segment on the behind the scenes chapter where I got some love! https://www.amazon.com/Weather-Channel-Improbable-Media-Phenomenon/dp/B004JU1T2U -

Historic Tennessee Valley Severe Weather Events
Mr Bob replied to Holston_River_Rambler's topic in Tennessee Valley
I saw that @*Flash* posted video from 2012 and thought it would be a good edition to this thread...I managed to take the above photo of the storm that produced the Harrison EF3. This was at Exit 11 on I-75. I could not go any further on the chase being a single dad of three...my time was up! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tornado_outbreak_of_March_2–3,_2012- 4 replies

While we lost power from the morning squall for a few hours, I was fortunate not to get any damage....As Jeff said, it was an incredible lightning display last night. And I have never seen so many warnings in our area at one time. I know this was not anything like 4/27/11, but it was pretty wild for this area.

It was a wet slushy snow...I had forgotten about that one.....

They corrected it to Jan 2011 but we had 2.5" in Feb 2020 and a major snow event in late February 2015 (at least 5-6" downtown). I have pics!

I was a sophomore during Kate living in the dorm...we actually never lost power (may have been a generator for campus but I don't recall) but parts of Tallahassee took more than three weeks to get power back. They sent us home early for Thanksgiving since the city was such a mess.
