  1. Temps in the high 40s/low 50s even in the inside-the-beltway heat island this AM; fall actually here to stay now?
  2. Agreed on the mild. I just want some rain. Last october was dry and gorgeous IIRC. And good to know about that correlation!
  3. Breath of fresh air outside this morning, quite literally.
  4. Shorts and t-shirts until Oct 15th or bust
  5. Yeah, as long as we have sun and low humidity, that would be great. If we are stuck in the swamp pattern, however, no thanks
  6. How we looking longwave? Cpc maps are red red red on temps thru 14 days
  7. Poplar trees are crunchy overly toasted toast in my neighborhood. Lawns are still green cuz we've had a couple showers.
  8. Decent rain in silver spring since around 2pm.
  9. Indeed. Looks rough! https://www.surfchex.com/cams/avon/
  10. Yeah, you can see that a bit on this CoCoRaHS total map for our general area. My house is near the 13.74" in Silver Spring. Totals from June 1st - now. A big chunk - maybe 4" - all fell in a couple hours that one day in July when Sligo Creek flooded.
  11. Probably a bit of actual measurable rainfall in and around NW PGC and SE Moco this AM. Very light though.
  12. 10/10 out there. Only picked up 0.4" this weekend but that's enough to keep the grass growing and prevent more burnout for a couple days. Long range, CPC has us in normal to slightly above normal precip after the 15th... we'll see
  13. Enough rain to actually make puddles and get under the trees wet. First time since mid August here in silver spring.
  14. Came on quick here, milky skies onset pretty fast.
  15. Cracking thunder all around, but now I see blue sky to the west. Nary a drop. Oh well
  16. Clouds, wind, outflow boundaries(?) and humid near downtown silver spring, but nary a drop. Precip is SE of me, so far.
  17. Indeed, my lawn is finally starting to get crisp/brown in spots (just in the last week) in Silver Spring, after being green and lush all year. Mowed every 7 days lol
  18. Indeed. We've earned a nice couple weeks, I think. Late August-early Sept is a great time to have normal/below normal high temps. We usually seem to excel at getting those in March/April
  19. @frd Took two quick vids and I am not a videographer. High tide took the waves and water up to the dunes, which are usually 300-400 feet from the high tide line nearest our beach access here in Wildwood Crest. All the beach paraphernalia (rental equipment shacks, trash cans, porta potties, boardwalks to make the sand easier to cross) have been scattered about by the waves. Big cleanup job for the municipal crews coming up. https://streamable.com/7gouw7 https://streamable.com/yuiz6c
  20. We are down at the other end of the island, near the border with diamond beach. My grandparents bought a house in Wildwood in the 70s but then the family 'upgraded' to Wildwood Crest in the 90s. "wild situation" sums it up here today... I will go back down at high tide and try to get more pics and vids as the surf continues to build up. The wind is tolerable standing on the beach, but the constant flow from the N/NE just has the sea continuing to build. There's a very very distinct flow downshore to the south.
